Felipa Arispe Obituary

ODESSA Our beautiful mother, the matriarch of our family, left us on Friday, March 11th to join our father, Jose, in Heaven. She loved her God and her family more than anything. She has taken part of our hearts with her and our lives will never be the same. She was a wonderful cook and our traditional Sunday lunch at her house will forever keep us all united in spirit. Our love will remain strong, just as she taught us.

Felipa was born in Terlingua, TX on February 5, 1922 to Guadalupe and Teresita Hernandez.

She loved Big Bend National Park and knew the area so well. Our many trips there were made so special with her knowledge and memories. She married dad on September 8, 1945.

He preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by daughters, Amalia Gonzales and husband Santos, Anna Vejil and husband Adam and Anna Marie Torres and husband Ponciano; three granddaughters, Grace Gonzales, Rebecca Lopez, Karissa Torres and one great grandson, Jacob Lopez.

She is also survived by three sisters, Ezequiela Molinar, Sofia Hinojos and Natividad Riojas; two brothers, Macario Hernandez and Cirilo Hernandez.

Our parents were members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for over 60 years and mom was an original member of the "Carmelitas de la Tercer Orden." Her church was a vital part of her life. She was also an avid member of the Southside Senior Center and enjoyed all the games and activities. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was always happy. She drove herself to church and to the Senior Center as recently as December. Mom had traveled to many fun destinations including Hawaii, Las Vegas, Mexico and had gone on a Caribbean Cruise on her 70th birthday.

Many thanks to all our family and friends for all their prayers, and also to Dr. Naidu and Interim Hospice for taking such good care of our beloved mother.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. today at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels. The Rosary will be recited this evening at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

"A bouquet of beautiful memories,
Sprayed with a million tears,
Wishing God could have spared you,
If just for a few more years.
We love you, we miss you and
We are proud to keep your dream and vision alive."

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Arispe was a kind lady and will be missed. I remember attending the prayer meetings many years ago at your house.

May God welcome her home.

Heaven has welcomed one of his angels on earth. My godparents, Jose & Felipe Arispe, were a bright light in my life as I saw their devotion to God as an example to lead a God fearing life. With much love and sympathy to my cousins who have lost their mother.
