Its funny how our memories work, and when I think of Larry, its almost always something funny. Many years ago we were working together at a work weekend at the Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch. For some unusual reason, Larry and I were assigned to work in the dining hall. We were filling serving bowls with peaches, and Larry started speeding things up. He would open the can with a crank type can opener, pitch the lid in the trash, the peaches in the bowl, and then the can into the trash. When he started speeding up, he opened the can, pitched the lid into the trash, and then dumped the peaches into the trash, and threw the can into the bowl. Then, I guess, he saw the look of surprise on my face and realized what had happened. Then we started laughing and it just got funnier. We never got invited back to work in the kitchen. :) He was so funny. :)

A few Sundays back I was tying my tie to get ready for church. As I stood there looking in the mirror and tied the tie in a double Windsor knot, which is the only knot I know how to tie a necktie with, my mind went back to a Christmas long ago. I was about 17 or 18 and Larry and I were at a friends house. Some gifts were exchanged and someone gave me a shirt and tie. Larry very patiently taught me how to tie a double Windsor knot on the spot. It took several rounds for me to finally figure it out, but I have been tying it ever since, and that has been about 50 years ago. Thanks dear friend for your kind gesture and your friendship. I have not forgotten you and think of you often even after all these years.

I can't believe so many years have gone by since you left us my dear friend. Mom has left us since then, too, and so I can imagine some of the conversations that you might be having with her and my Dad. You might not know it, but I think they loved you as much as I did; they wanted us to be friends and were glad to have you come and stay with us at our house when we were growing up. My sister Cory is coming to visit in a few days. She probably still hasn't forgiven us for eating the rice crispy treats out of the pan before they cooled off. What a memory. :) Ha Ha I sat with your mother at the Art Club a while back when Steve Napper came over to do some pastels. She is still as pretty as ever and has your smile (or you have hers.) I visit with Curtis sometimes and he is always so friendly and helps me with my auto problems. I can ask him questions and we seem to laugh no matter what. He truly is a really good man and friend. I remember when he was just a little scooter watching cartoons with Roger. How long ago was that? :) God bless you my dear friend. You are not forgotten.

Janet I'm so sorry to here that Larry has left us here on this earth. I was the explorer advisor for the explorer post that Larry and curtis were members of in the 60's. I have some great memories of that scout group and will always remember Larry. My wife and I offer you our condolences and we look forward to talking with Larry about old times on the other side of this life. David & Beverly Mohn Maricopa Arizona 85139

i have a small story i have no idea why i remember it so vividly. do you remember the little folded puzzles with questions on out side answers inside? any way i played with them on the bus . one of the inside answers was you have green hair. it did not matter how many times Larry did this with me he always managed to get that one. It sounds silly now but I was in the 4th grade i think. He was a good friend to my brother and was around a lot . he will be missed

Janet I am so sorry for your loss.

Larry was a very special person that is rarely found. It was an honor and privilege working with him. Larry will be missed by everyone that knew him, his laugh was so contagious you couldn’t help but start laughing before you even knew what was so funny.

I’m going to miss you my friend may God Bless you

Janet, Ruby, Curtis, & families,
We were saddened by the news about Larry. He was a great friend. His middle name should have been "laughter." He kept us smiling. Our hearts are broken, but Larry will always be an important part of our lives, and a source of wonderful memories. All our love,
Marshall, Joy, Kami, and Grandma Horn
