Lucille Grindle Obituary

ODESSA Lucille M. Grindle, 87, our dearly loved mom, Munner, sister and aunt passed away at home on the Lord's Day, Sunday, May 2, 2010. She is, and will always be, our most passionate champion and the cornerstone of our lives.
Born Oct. 15, 1922, in Hope, Ark., she married James Edward Kimbrell in 1941. Following WWII, they moved to Odessa, Texas, where Lucille spent the majority of her life. For many years, she was owner and operator of Trade Way Convenience Store in Odessa until her retirement in 1990. During these years, she was held in the highest esteem as being someone who would reach out to help someone in need. Her compassionate and selfless deeds brought her an affectionate title of "unsung hero" among the Permian Basin oil patch as well as others who knew and were recipients of her caring ways.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; three sisters; infant son, Keith Kimbrell; and two husbands, James Kimbrell in 1958 and Herman Grindle in 1972.
In 2004, she moved to San Angelo. Lucille is survived by her three children, Jim Kimbrell of Hilo, Hawaii, Judy McCorquodale and husband, Mac, of San Angelo, and Bob Kimbrell and wife, Lori, of Plano; she is also survived by her little sister, Sue Noble, of Mabank; special nephews and nieces; and an extra special great-nephew, Mark Allen Noble.
Yet, the brightest lights and the sweetest music of our Mom's life were her children, her five grandchildren and her seven great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are, Todd Jordan and wife Linda, of Granbury, Lori Jordan of San Angelo, Jamie Jordan and wife Andrianna of Austin, Grant Kimbrell of Plano and Jennifer Kimbrell of Plano; great-grandchildren are Ashlea Jackson, Brannon Jordan, Kalie Bryant Jordan, Allie Dennis, Saylor Jordan, Trevan Jordan and William Jordan.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, TX. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Mom's unselfish love for others, the family requests donations be made to VistaCare Hospice, San Angelo, or to your own favorite charity. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo.
"Mom, arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you." - Isaiah 60:1.

Ms Grindle had such an influence on my family. We spent quite a bit of time remembering her after the news of her passing. My Father summed it up when we said, Many a child would have gone hungry had it not been for Ms Grindle extending a helping hand. I finer person has not walked this Earth. God is welcoming home an Angel. Ms Grindle once gave me a 1976 Buick Century when my own vehicle had driven its last mile. She had no idea how much that meant to me, but I have tried to pay it forward for each day that has followed. She was one of a kind and will be missed.

She was the best Mom ever and the greatest role model for how you live your life. She cared deeply for her family, was extremely loyal to her friends and neighbors, and was always willing to help those in need. I love her very, very much and will miss her forever more.

Lou was a sister like no other. She cared for me lika a mother, since I had lost my mother before I was two. Though she had many tragedies and illnesses, she remained strong. Her family meant everything to her. God has blessed us all by giving her to us.

I want you to know how very much I loved your mom. One of my favorite childhood memories was walking down to the "little store" and filling a small paper bag with penny candy.
Your mom was dear friend to my mother. She and my mom helped each other through what seemed like impossible times in their lives.
Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
