William Smouse Obituary

William Lawrence Smouse, 99, of Sewickley, formerly of Malden, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017.
He was born August 31, 1917, in Manns Choice, the only child of the late Robert Eugene and Blanche Viola Mitchell Smouse.
Mr. Smouse was a 1935 graduate of Brownsville High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Iceland.
After his discharge, he worked as an apprentice machinist for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Allenport Mill, where he worked until his retirement in 1979.
He and his wife Helen took advantage of his early retirement to travel, camping throughout the United States and visiting Europe.
Mr. Smouse was a longtime member of Taylor United Methodist Church and was an active member of both Lions Club and Free and Accepted Masons Lodge.
Surviving are his wife of 76 years, Helen Lucille Ogden Smouse; two children, Roberta Hartman (Thomas) of Pittsburgh and William Lawrence Smouse Jr. (Maria) of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Shannon Hartman Cannings, Aaron William Hartman and Patricia Elisa Smouse Gomez; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, in the assembly of Masonic Village, 1000 Masonic Drive, Sewickley, with the Rev. Timothy Reichard officiating. A public visitation also will be held that day from 2 to 4 p.m. in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Burial in Highland Cemetery, California, will follow the visitation. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705, Centerville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Masonic Village, 1000 Masonic Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143.

Don't know whether you remember me, my mother's name was Dorotha and my father's name was Ray Myers. My name is Pamela. I remember that my parents visited you all and played cards for years. My mom died in 2003 and Dad died in 2012. Sending prayers for you and your family.
