Norman Contois Obituary

CONTOIS, JR., NORMAN R., 56
Norman R. Contois Jr., 56 of Summit Township, PA, passed suddenly on June 11, 2011. He was born in Albany, NY on March 1, 1955. He grew up in Guilderland and Cobleskill, NY and graduated from Cobleskill High School in 1973. He grew tired of New York winters and moved to Summerfield, Florida in 1977, where he lived until moving to Erie in 2006. Norm was employed by the Thermoclad Company where he was the plant manager of the Florida operation and was currently in a Technical Support position. Norm was pre-deceased by his dad, Butch Scofield (Summerfield, FL), his father Norman R. Contois Sr. (Deltona,FL), his best friend Tony Apgar (Ocala, FL), maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart; Kelly (Hills) Contois of Erie, mother; Arlene Scofield of Summerfield, FL, father-in-law; Robert Hills of Erie, sister; Barb Gardner of Summerfield, FL, half-sister; Nicole (Contois) O'Daniel of Deltona, FL, nephew James (Marlene) Gardner of Silver Springs, FL, niece; Tammy Gardner and great nephew Cody Gardner of Summerfield, FL. He is also survived by his loving fur and feathered family all of whom he loved deeply.
Norm had many friends in Erie, Florida and Cobleskill, NY who could always count on his wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and great stories to make them laugh. He loved to ride his motorcycle, spend time with his family, garden, travel and the great outdoors. He had only lived in Erie for five years, but he loved the people and the area and embraced all that it has to offer. He believed in living life to the fullest, always trying to make the most of each and every day.

I was very sorry to hear that Norm had passed. I just heard this morning, from the dear mail lady that we had for so many years in Summerfield, and was so shocked to learn of it. My deepest sympathy and condolences to his family at this time of tremendous loss. I have many fond memories of Norm. May the Lord be with all of you in your time of sorrow, and may Norm always live on in your heart and in all your cherished memories.
With love,

For my dear cousin Kelly and my favorite Unkel Bob..... the sadness I feel is so great ... I was informed via email of Norm's sudden passing while I was on my medical mission trip in Belize. It left me feeling so isolated and it hurt me to know I couldn't be there to hold you up Kelly. I will cherish the memories I have of our times shared, both in Florida and up in PA. There are so many fond memories of Norm - what a great man he was. Carlie was very very saddened as well. The morning after hearing of this deep loss we lifted you both up in prayer during our morning devotion.... I hope you felt it..... I want to call you but know there is so little to say...what do you say to someone who has suffered such a great loss? What I can say is this: I love you both very much and am deeply saddened that you have to suffer this loss....it is unimaginable. I hope that your faith in God can somehow lesson your burden...you can lean on Him. With all my love, Leslie

Ah, my old friend Kelly, my heart breaks for you. I am so saddened, especially as I will never get the opportunity to meet the man who stole my best friends heart. Know I am here for you and your papa should there be anything I could do to help ease your burden. Bless you, call when you are able.

Kelly,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Ma, Barb and the whole family.
My heart aches at the thought of Norm being gone. I will always treasure the memories of working with him at Thermoclad and our company picnics. Norm could always make me laugh, and I too will miss his story telling. I am fortunate to have known him, and I will miss him. Kelly.... Norm was the happiest he has ever been when you came back into his life, here in Florida. My friend may be gone, but never forgotten. With my deepest sympathy.

Even though we had moved to Erie, Norm's friends and family in Florida were always close in his heart and mind. We all know what a great storyteller he was, and the many stories he told of Florida, made for many good laughs in Erie. He loved each and every one of you very much.
I'm keeping all of you close at heart.

Kelly we are so sorry for your loss of such a wonderful man... Norm was like a brother to Eric & gave so much to him.... More than you will ever know... Thank you for sharing him with everyone. The stories that he told in the way that only Norm could do, that made everyone listening not just smile, but laugh out loud! I only met him a few times, but I feel like a knew him the entire time Eric did. Everyday they worked together meant another "Norm story"! Good or bad he told it honest & from the heart.... He shared so much, wisdom, advice, a willing ear and most of all friendship with Eric...thanks Norm, you were the best friend anyone could ever hope to have. You will be so sadly missed... We will think of you with every Blues & Jazz song we hear...like the music you loved..you will live on forever... Rest in peace...you were a one of a kind.
