Donald Johns Obituary
Born in Akron, he was a Cuyahoga Falls resident since 1989, had served six years in the Army National Guard and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Since 1974, Don has been owner and creative mind for both the Haunted School House and Laboratory in Akron. While Don loved the ocean, scuba diving and fishing, what he truly valued and loved above all was his family and his friends.
Don became a mentor to his family, friends and employees by sharing his strong work ethic, business sense, high expectations and creative abilities, along the way building respect and lifelong friendships.
Don was a wonderful father and Papa. Some of his most treasured moments were spent on "Papa Dates" with his two granddaughters. Words cannot express how much he was loved and how much he will be missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, Paul Johns and Helen Esbaugh; and brothers, Danny and Michael Johns; he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cindy; daughter and son-in-law; Aimee and Dave Dennison; his granddaughters who he loved dearly; Emily and Katelyn; sisters, Vivian (Richard) Kraus, Donna (Dick) Best, Debbi (Georg) Weitzel, Tammy Parrish, Trisha Johns (Steve Poston); 15 nieces and nephews; and step-mother, Pat Scarberry.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service Wednesday, place and time to be announced. Burial will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Akron Children's Hospital, Burn Unit, One Perkins Square, Akron, 44308.

Don you know how very much you mean to me... you are so much more than just a brother and you know that. What a shock to read this in the paper today. I am so sorry for your loss. Don was a great boss. He and Pat where my first bosses and of course I could tell you the many memories I have of Don. I pray that God wraps His loving arms around all of you and gives you the strength you need to get through these difficult days.

I am sorry for your lose. I did not know him, but I think that I know of him, if this is the right Don Johns, if your family had a set of twins named Danny and Donnie, we maybe family. I am sorry for your lose regardless, god be with you in your time of sadness.

I only knew Don for a short while but he was a very nice man and he and I had a lot of laughs. I was glad I was able to finish the project he deeply cared about. May your memories of him bring you comfort.

Dear Cindy , Aimee and Family. I am so sorry to hear about Don, what a shock. Don will always be remembered by me as a quite guy with a big heart. We fondly remember Don from Thomastown along with Pat Masturzo from the years we all spent at Thomastown with bingo and all the practices we had there with Cadet-Ettes. Amazing memories and a wonderful man. Only God can heal your broken hearts during this time. Don will be missed. Fond memories of meeting for middle of the night alarm activities and pre-opening "haunted" tours for my then young children. Thomastown will never be the same.

Dad,
I miss you more than I can say. You were such a great dad, and papa. You never missed an opportunitity to see one of my girls gymnastics show, softball game, school program or taking them out on your papa dates and that means so much to me. I can't thank you enough for teaching me such important life skills. From you I have learned to have a strong work ethic, business sense, and most of all a love for family.I know how proud you were of me and I will do my best to continue to live my life in honor to you.
