Robert Pyke Obituary
Pyke, Jr.
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Robert E. Pyke, Jr., 67, passed away January 24, 2016. Mr. Pyke was born in Akron and was a lifetime resident of Cuyahoga Falls.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church serving as a Eucharistic Lay Minister and a member of the IHM Knights of Columbus. He was loved by all his patients having worked as an LPN, RN and Nurse Practitioner.
Bob put his faith, family, friends, love for music and passion for his career above all else. He connected with healthcare providers forming friendships all over the world through TeleHealth on the computer. He had been honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Master Sargeant.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Sr. and Gertrude and brother, Steven J.; Bob is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Ellen; children, Rama and Joey, both of Cuyahoga Falls; and other extended family including Bob and Jan Yannayon.
The Pyke Family would like to thank the Summa Hospice Staff along with the Physicians, Nurses and other caring staff members on the Palliative Care Floor at Akron City Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday, Jan 27 in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28 in St. Joseph's. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Just learned of Bob going to be with Jesus. Raising our kids side by side (Rama and Kyle Hughes drumming and Joe and Jay Donnie at baseball ) are some of our most treasured memories! We so very much enjoyed these days with Bob's sense of humor getting us all through. Thank you for sharing him with us! You 3 will be in our thoughts and prayers. I only knew Bob through our mutual interest in telemedicine. For some time we had frequent email exchanges re the progress these technologies were making in the delivery of medical care and even one brief phone call. I know his efforts were valuable in this area and was saddened to learn of his illness. I know he will be missed.

As we have seen time and time again, healthcare workers are not immune to any of the diseases that affect mankind and that they see every day. And it is with great sorrow and dismay that we mourn the loss of Bob who had labored so hard to help others suffering from diseases during his career.
We had the privilege to be close to Bob and his family as friends and as fellow healthcare workers.
We will miss his broad smile and especially his acerbic wit.
To Mary Ellen, Rama, And Joey - we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as always but especially at a time when our emotions are heavy with the grief of the loss of a beloved husband and father and friend.
God bless you always and may your hearts be lightened by the release of Bob from his considerable suffering while you deal with the heaviness of the grief from your loss.
