Elsie Jean Winkle Dunbar, 65, of Akron, Ohio, died Friday, June 28, 2002 at the Hospice Care Center in Akron, following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 29, 1936 in Garland City, Ark., the daughter of Harry O. and Exie L. Tolson Winkle. Ms. Dunbar was a lifelong resident of Texas until she relocated to North Kingsville, Ohio, in 1985 to be with her children, moving to Akron in 1998. She had a junior college business degree, and was a registered lab technician prior to her relocation. She married Richard Francis Dunbar on June 6, 1954. Ms. Dunbar was a member of the Singles Friendship Club in Ashtabula, Ohio, where she served as hos pitality chairman, and was a member of the Conneaut Church of God. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, and was an avid gardener and loved "watching her garden grow." She also loved fishing and being outdoors.
Survivors include daughters, Di ana L. (Charles) Williams of Akron, Ohio, and Melissa L. (Edward Jr.) Rzeszutek of Conneaut, Ohio; son, Richard Dunbar of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Amanda J. Zimmer man of Buffalo, N.Y., Cynthia L. Zimmerman of Akron, Ohio, Caleb P. Rzeszutek, Michah E.J. Rzeszutek, and Seth Rzeszutek all of Conneaut, and Richard A. Dunbar Jr. of Akron, Ohio; sister, Norma V. Burchfield of Sulphur Springs, Texas; brother, Oather T. Winkle of Yantis, Texas; and seven nieces, and eight nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jewel Winkle, Vera Crank, Pearl Hensley, Vearl Burnett, Florence Burchfield, and Joyce Welsh; brothers, infant twin boys, and Elmer Ray Hensley; one niece; and seven nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, at the Con neaut Church of God, 5327 Center Rd., St. 7 South, Conneaut, Ohio, with Rev. Raymond L. Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Township. Ohio. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. TONIGHT at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, and also at the church on Tuesday, beginning at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Conneaut Church of God Building Fund, or to the Hospice Care Center in Akron, Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the church and at the funeral home.
