I was visiting my hometown from San Diego and went to the barberto where the wuartet was singing. It was so great! Then it started raining, then thunder and lightning! I didnt want it to end and they just kept on singing. They were standing under a big tree. Never forgot that experience. I was looking for a song to sing when you tube brought up Suppertime! Im 85 so this memory brought a smile to me! RIP George!

Tonight is a very special night for me. I feel God led me to this site. Soon, I will be joining sweet George and it is truly because of him that I'm not afraid. My name is the Lamb's Book of Life because os a song and testimony I heard on tv one night by George.

He humbly told his personal story and it hit my heart and soul. I truly knew at that moment, God was sending me a message through George and I dropped to my knees, tears flowing, and promised God I would turn my life around...and I did, and never went back to the old sinner I was.

If it hadn't been for George, my bags would still be in the closet...all covered in dust...just as my heart covered in sin, but through George's testimony and his singing Just An Old Sinner Saved By Grace, my bags are polished, packed and ready to go.
I want to thank George for helping the Lord save my soul!

I also want to thank sweet Ernie for the deep love and care he took of George. He was constantly at his side...just in case. The last tine George sang Suppetime, I knew how weak he was, and as he was singing, he suddenly turned and started walking to Ernie. Ernie was there in seconds holding George up and calling over and over for a chair. He knelt beside George as all the boys did and bless George, he made it through 1 more time. What a gift! Thank you, Ernie, for the love and care you gave our much loved George, and thank you, George for bringing me back to the Lord.

My husband and I extend to Clara and the children our sympathy, for the loss of George and two of your precious daughters. How wonderful to picture them walking into Jesus's arms and then into George's.

Soon I will meet him and Carl and I both pray we can get seats beside George and sweet Harold Reid when his time comes. We want to hear those two wonderful boom booms surround us!
May God hold and comfort you all until we are all home.
Sincerely,
Carl and Linda Chew-Graetz

George
You and Glenn made a big impact on the lives of my children, my wife and I.
Anytime we traveled we had tapes and CD's of the Cathedrals playing.
I believe that is where my family developed an understanding of 4 part harmony.
My wife and I have sang together at weddings, funerals and worship services.
We have 2 daughters that sing and one of them is married to a Baptist pastor and has made a CD of her own.
I am so very much looking forward to the worship we will have around the throne!!!

Lord, what a party we will have when we all get to heaven. I just want to spend the first 10 thousand years listening to Gospel Music.

May 24, 2014

I was introduced to the Cathedrals gospel music less than two years ago. And I must say, I absolutely love them! It is so apparent those guys truly loved the Lord.

I feel so blessed each and every time I played one of their CD's or DVD's. Rest assured both Glen and George are singing with the heavenly angels. God made them brothers in Christ and now they are forever with Him.

God bless George Younce's family.

Best regards in Christ.

I must agree with a prior post I read that, when I am sad I reach out to gospel music more than I usually do,and it is most(99%)often George Younce.I never met him,but I think my heart knows him like a close brother, through his voice, wisdom of self, humor, and most important his soul-deep conviction of living, walking, singing, sharing the glory of walking with the Lord.
You are missed George, and Thank You for touching my life before you went home to the best supertime of all,and you still touch my life most everyday through recorded music and video.
GOD BLESS YOU!!

No one person has ever blessed the gospel music industry the way George Younce did. His wonderful voice and true dedication to Christ was so apparent each time he sang. Heaven is now resounding with that voice and bursting at the seams with the praise as only George could sing it. If ever there was a name that would always be known when speaking of gospel music, it will be his. The stage seems barren without George Younce, Jake Hess, and the Goodmans.

So often I think of George and what a blessing he was (and still is) to my husband and me. No one could ever take his place. When I think of where he is, I can't help but be happy for him. No more illness and being with the Savior Himself. How wonderful that is!!! And think of the friends he is with - Glen in particular. May God bless the family and may they find comfort in knowing what a blessing George was to so many.

To the Younce Family,

My condolences. George will be missed so very much. I knew him for over 30 years, as I often drove many miles to see and hear the Cathedrals, and last night I went to Rochester and in the hopes of getting to see him to perform, was saddened by the news of his passing. Thank God we will all see him again in heaven. The Gaithers did a beautiful tribute to him in last night's concert. God bless him for his many years of making us smile and feel God's presence in his singing. May God comfort you all. George is in that heavenly choir. A faithful friend,

April 22, 2005

I just wanted to share a personal story illustrating George's generous, giving spirit.

I have watched and enjoyed him on tv for years. One day while I was going into CVS in Stow, I happened to see him in the parking lot. Feeling like I knew him, I just blurted out "HI George"...and we started talking. That was right after Glen Payne had passed away, and he was so sad about that.

Anyway...after talking for a short time, he went to the car and got a cd of one of his solo albums and gave it to me...I asked him to sign it for me, which he did. I was so excited and touched by his kind spirit and his generosity! He had such a lovely personality...and I felt as though I had known him for years.

My heart goes out to the family and loved ones. I feel blessed to have met him for that brief time.

Zeliah Martin

April 22, 2005

Mr. Younce was a wonderful entertainer and a great person. He hung on for a long time and can you imagine the choir in Heaven. I bet it is wonderful. Clara and Family, just turn to the Lord. It will be rough for a time but maybe it will get better with time.

To The Younce Family,

My heart was deeply saddened when I learned of Georges passing. I extend my heart felt sympathy to you. Though I always wanted too, I never got the chance to meet George face to face. I always loved his sense of humor. I pulled out one of the Cathedrals VHS the other night after learning of his passing, of course there were some tears, But I could not help but laugh When he sang the Laughing song. Every time I think about that it brings a smile to my face. Love to All, In Christian Love Staci D.

To the Younce Family,

You have my deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved George. Though I knew him only from Gaither videos, it was easy to see what a special person he was. He was a great witness for the Lord, an example of living the Faith, and a hero of that faith to so many who will never forget him.

Dear Younce Family,

I wanted to express my appreciation to the Younce family for allowing George to come and sing to us and I saw him sing in many cities in the southwest United States. I will never forget my little boy at two years old rocking to George and Glenn singing "Boundless Love" and "Blood Washed Band". On one occasion our son was in his car seat and started singing "Blood Washed Band" and the man at the service station that was washing our windshield, put out his cigarette after hearing that song! George truly loved what he was doing and loved to minister the gospel to all people. We will never forget him and hope to see him in heaven someday!!!

Wow! can you even begin to imagine what " The Gaither Hour " up in Heaven must be sounding like now? with all of God's Precious Singers who have been called and made the Audition? they must be singing songs that even the Angels can't sing, I can just imagine George patting Glenn on the shoulder talking about how he " Loves Old Folks" that brings a BIG smile to our faces when we think about that.

What Blessings George was to us all.

We sincerely Pray God's Blessings on each member of the Younce Family beginning with His Precious Loving Wife, God Bless You All.

Sincerely;

It was our great privilege to travel from Austin, Texas (via automobile) to see George in concert for the first time at Hudson High School .... our family dog-child, age 13, rode in the back seat, smiling puppy smiles and counting the miles. Seeing George perform was the thrill of a lifetime! Due to George's fragile health, we were not able to meet him, but his love and his booming bass voice filled the room, as well as our hearts. It was our delight, too, to have George sing "Wedding Music" (via CD)when we were married last year (a once-in-a-lifetime thrill for this 50-year-old first-time bride!). We look forward to front row seats in Heaven someday to hear George sing for The Master live and in person, and to be able to finally hug his neck! We love you, George!!! Thank you, Younce family, for sharing him with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you - may God give you His comfort, strength and peace. With our heartfelt love, Barney and Joyce Fleetwood and Barnabus Dawg

My sincere condolences to the family on their loss of a great, talented, sincere Christian gentleman!!!! He will be missed greatly.

I attended a graveside service this afternoon and someone had taped and played "Healing" with George singing the first verse after Roger had introduced it. George has, indeed, received his healing!!!! One of the ministers noted that George passed a week ago today! What a timely song!!!

To the family of George Younce.

George was a wonderful singer and person. I have really enjoyed all the tapes and the old records that I have with him singing. He has been such a blessing to me through the years and will continue as I watch and listen to his music.

You are all in my prayers. Ernie, I saw you at the Gaither concert in Dallas, Texas and really enjoy your singing.

My husband, Harold and I would like to let the Younce family know how much we loved George and how saddened we are by his death. We feel like we have lost a member of our own family and are so grateful that we were able to see him with the Cathedrals and also to have so many videos where we can once again hear his booming voice and see his smiling face. I would like to say especially to Genene, his niece, that I am continuing to pray for her, and all the family. May God bless each of you and give you peace and memories you will never forget.
