"When I am called to ride your herd, Lord, I sure would take it kindly if Blackie was back in my string" --Black Draught
I cried every time I heard Larry do this poem, but no doubt they are riding the Lord's Range together again.

Met Larry very briefly at Red Steagall's Cowboy Gathering October 2002. A lovely man full of humour and a top notch poet.
A pleasure to have known him, if only for a very short time.

Such a short life, but he left so many sweet memories with us.

"...he wasn't the best, but he was my ace..." these words from Larry's "Black Draught" comforted my grown son when he lost his favorite roping horse to colic. We were fortunate to be able to tell Larry this at the Lincoln County Symposium just shortly after the horse's death. Larry touched so many lives without even knowing it. He was a large part of why we always made the effort to attend the Lincoln Co. gathering. He will be greatly missed. God must have needed a great western poet angel.

One of the highlights of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival was to hear Larry recite his poetry. Larry could make you feel like you had been his friend for a lifetime even if it was the first time that you had met him. When you saw Larry at the festival, you just had to smile because his grin was infectious. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

To the family of Larry, I am so sorry for the loss of your son, husband, dad, brother and grandfather. Look to the twenty third Psalm for inspiration.

I never met Larry, but loved his works. My heart hurts for his family, but I, like them, am comforted by the sure knowledge of where he now hangs his hat. We'll miss you pard.

I went to grade school with Larry in Higgins, TX. I hadn't seen him in years, but had kept up with his life by way of the web. I will always remember the time we spent the night out on Wolf Creek when we were in 5th grade. It was one time in my life that will forever be in my mind. I had a feeling back then that Larry would someday touch people's lives.... and I think he did!

Heaven has been blessed with one of the nicest men on Earth. Only met Larry a couple of times at the Blevins Ranch at Elmore City, OK, but he was truly one of the best.

How bright the day!
Home to our Lord you have gone!
Tho sorrow abounds for the loss
of your physical presence,
There is Rejoicing in the Heavens
That another Saint beholds the
Face of our precious Jesus.
