Charles Bacon Obituary

Charles E. "Jake" Bacon, 92, passed away March 31, 2011, in Albuquerque, NM. He was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Sulphur, OK to Bert and Irene Bacon. He graduated from Sulphur HS and joined the WPA. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a 70-year resident of OKC and a member of St Luke's UMC for 48 years. He belonged to the Bricklayers and Stonemasons union. He was a devoted husband and father. Many times he volunteered his knowledge and skills to help build community projects. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Mary Helen Avery Bacon. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Chronister and son-in-law Dick; granddaughters, Susan and Karen; two sisters, and several nephews and nieces. Viewing will be 4-8 PM, Wed., at Vondel Smith South, and graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, at Rose Hill Burial Park.
