Raymond Laverne Wright

Raymond Laverne Wright - loyal father, husband, and son - passed from this earth to join his beloved wife Peggy Quinn Wright on February 26, 2006. Raymond was the son of Ovid and Lula Wright born on December 6, 1913 in Hobart, Oklahoma. After elementary school his family moved to Oklahoma City where he attended Oklahoma City Public Schools and graduated from Classen High School in 1934. After attending Oklahoma State University, Raymond joined the United States Navy and served three years as a signalman. He served on three ships: S.S Melrose, January 1943 and the S.S. Bostonian, March 1944 both in the Atlantic; S.S. Delgado, April 1944 - October 1945 in the Pacific. After the war, Raymond worked as a real estate broker, developer, and homebuilder. He handled all sales and assisted in the development of Quail Plaza, Camelot, North Park Mall and the Greens. Throughout his life he was an avid hunter and fisherman accompanied by his beloved English Pointer Birddogs - - Daisy and Buddy. Raymond is survived by his son, William Gil Wright, daughter Pamela Twidwell and son-in-law David Twidwell of OKC; six grandchildren, Emily Diane Bergstrom and husband Eric of El Cerrito, CA; Hunter Post Wright and Elizabeth Shaney Wright of Austin, TX; Carter William Wright, Trevor Gil Wright, and Alexandra Marie Wright of OKC; and one great-granddaughter, Ella Diane Bergstrom, El Cerrito, CA. The happiness that Raymond was able to share the last two years of his life is attributed to all of the support provided by the members of his Mercy Hospice Team: Dr. Drooby, Sherri, Pat, Lisa, Dewayne, Harry, Denise, and Barbara. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice of Mercy Hospital, 13301 N. Meridian Bldg 200, OKC, OK 73120. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m, Wednesday, March 1st at Memorial Park Cemetery.
