To the Hoig family,
Dr. Hoig was my instructor at UCO and one of my favorites at the school. Journalism was my minor and out of all of my journalism classes, his were, by far, the most interesting and he was a patient instructor. One that really sticks out in my mind was a writing class and our term paper consisted of writing a short story, chapter of a novel or a magazine article. He critiqued all of our work with pain-staking comments and you could tell that he did not lightly grade them and just put a grade at the top. He went over every sentence, punctuation mark and innuendo with a fined tooth comb. He was an excellent professor and made my college days memorable. I recently retired from teaching myself and incorporated a lot of what I learned in my own journalism classes that Dr. Hoig taught me. You could look the world over and I don't believe you could find another more dedicated and caring of his students.
I was sorry to read of his death but the impressions he gave me are still alive today. My heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time.

Please know that your father was a great professor and boss. I worked for him for three years on the Bronze Book. He always shared his wisdom and stories with a sense of caring, I appreciated him. We shared in your family's hospitality when Dr. Hoig and Pat opened their home to me and my wife for a wedding shower. Your dad was a pretty cool dude. Richard Caram, Oklahoma City.

Pat and Family,
I will miss Stan terribly. He was always so friendly and helpful anytime I needed his help. I have really enjoyed reading his books on the history of the area and now I have those as a keepsake of Stan's immense knowledge that he so well shared with the rest of us.
My last conversation with Stan was one of the funniest I remember, and that will stay with me forever.

Our prayers are with you all. We will miss Stan.

Pat and Family,

Jim and I were so fortunate to have your and Stanley's friendship over the years. I like to think they are together and sharing some good memories too. In the future, whenever I think of Stanley it will always be with a smile on my face.
You and I are sharing another experience at this time that we never wanted to share. I pray for your comfort and peace as I feel I have derived from my faith. As a 90 yr old member of my church reminded me, that now Jim has a better address than I have. That goes for Stanley too.
God's Blessings and take care.
