JEFFREY SHRADER Obituary

June 15, 1983 - Dec 5, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Jeffrey Jay Shrader was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Glenn J. "Jack" Shrader and Mary Shrader on June 15, 1983, and passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of December 5, 2013. Jeff was a natural athlete, who spent his youth playing sports and his adult years watching sports. He played soccer, football and basketball and was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan. He was a regular, along with his dad and brother, John, at the Thunder games. He also had an encyclopedic memory for even the most obscure sports trivia. Jeff was passionate about hair and had a gift and love for making people feel happy and special. He was well-known for teasing with clients and making them laugh. Anyone who ever had their hair shampooed by him insisted that no one could give a better shampoo. He studied at the Paul Mitchell School in Dallas and graduated from Duncan Brothers in Oklahoma City. He had worked at Tony and Guy's in Dallas; Schardein in Oklahoma City; and at the time of his death, at Loc Salon in Oklahoma City. His job at Loc Salon was the favorite job he had ever had, and some of his strongest relationships were with co-workers. He had a friendly and giving spirit and was experiencing a childlike excitement about this coming Christmas, focusing more on the gifts that he would give rather than what he wanted to receive. One of his favorite pastimes was to accompany his dad on Saturdays to pass out food and clothing to the homeless at Operation 363, run by Mayflower UCC Church. Jeff is survived by his mother, Mary Shrader, of Greenville, Ohio; his father and stepmom, Jack Shrader and Pat Lattimore, of Oklahoma City; his sister and nieces, Jennifer, Skylar, and Brittany Shrader, of Edmond; and his brother and sister-in-law, Glenn John Shrader III and Amanda Shrader, of Edmond. He is also survived by his step-siblings, Sarah and Adam Myrick, of Oklahoma City; Daniel and Meghan Bruner and Ben and Evie, of Denver; and Trevor Bruner, of Austin, Texas; plus a score of family and friends. A memorial service for Jeff will be held at Memorial UCC Church, 3901 NW 63rd Street, Oklahoma City, 73116, at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013. Flowers are welcome, or a contribution may be made in Jeff's name to Operation 363 at Mayflower UCC Church.

Jack, I know it was God leading me to my over crowded inbox to see this about Jeff. My heart is anguished as I read this to Heidi and now I can hardly see through the tears and pain. I can't even imagine what you are going through, I can see clearly the memories of you ministering to me, being there for me and playing comforting songs to me years ago. No matter whether it was in the old barn, a vehicle or sitting on the curb, your kid's, Jeff included, would always be playing or hanging around you. I cannot think of you without seeing the happiness and laughter that you and your children shared together. I know life is full of struggles however you and I know THE MASTER OF PEACE AND WE PRAY PEACE, ENCOURAGEMENT AND MOST OF ALL, LET JEFF'S GIVING SPIRIT AND CHILDLIKE EXCITEMENT ABOUT THIS AND EVERY CHRISTMAS LIVE ON. FOCUS MORE ON WHAT YOU ALL MEAN TO EACH OTHER BECAUSE YOU ARE THE GIFTS. CONTINUE HIS FAVORITE PASTIME IN HIS HONOR.
Love from John T. and Heidi

I had the pleasure of his shampoo and company only twice at Loc Salon, but I felt a kinship. I know the pain of losing a son and extend my deepest empathy. Jeffry will be missed, but his spirit will continue.

In June of 2012, I traveled from Indiana to OKC and arrived just in time to attend the Thunder playoff game with Jack and Jeff. What a great evening as I remember Jeff being so happy and proud of his city and the accomplishments of his team, the Thunder. Thoughts and prayers go to all of Jeff's family members and friends.
