Ronald Taylor Obituary

Coach Ronald A., 59, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Aug. 26, 2009. He was born Oct. 25, 1949 in Winner, SD. Ron graduated from Moore H.S. in 1968 and OU in 1972. He later pursued his Master's Degree in Education. He was preceded in death by his niece, Dorothy Glasgow. Ron leaves cherished memories with his loving wife of 38 years, Sandi; son, Erick; daughter, Mindy; parents, Harry & Dorothy Taylor; and a host of loving family, friends, students and athletes. Throughout his life, Ron understood God's calling and served Him lovingly and faithfully until his last breath. At the end of each conversation, Ron's closing words were, "Smile and giv'em Heaven!" Ron did just that. He touched people's lives with his warm, friendly smile, captivating personality and zest for life. He faced life's challenges with courage and adversity with a winning spirit, and the determination to live fully and wonderfully in Jesus' name. Ron's legacy will continue on in all of those he encountered. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: FCA-Fellowship of Christian Athletes ATTN: Receipting Dept., 8701 Leeds Rd., Kansas City, MO 64129. Coach Taylor was a great teacher, coach, FCA leader and friend. He was always looking out for his students and players. He made a big impression on me and others that knew him. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to his family. Know that "coach" is always with you!

Sandy and Family,

Thank you for sharing Ron's wonderful life with so many. I still regard him as the kindest and best men I have ever known. He is and was one of the biggest inspirations in my life. He affected and helped so many. He is the ultimate Husband/Father/Teacher/Coach. My sincere and deepest sympathy for his passing. He is waiting for you in Heaven where he ALWAYS encouraged everyone to "give em Heaven".

Love,

Ron Taylor was one of the best (if not the best) teachers I had at Putnam City North in OKC. Very friendly, very demanding, very humble... just a plethora of different yet great qualities! I had him for Trigonometry in the 10th grade. He knew his stuff. Not a bad football coach either! I will miss him. He made a lasting impression on me and I'm thankful for it... Sandi, Erik, Mindy, Uncle Harry, Aunt Dorothy and the Taylor Clan.

Cousin Ron was an inspiration to all who met and knew him. I remember how big and strong he was and yet what a gentle kind person he was.
My Dad owned a locker plant in Ashton Nebraska. On a trip through the flatlands one summer, Ron almost single handed replaced a huge Amonia Compressor Motor for my dad. He was a mountain of strength in so many ways.

The world is poorer today and heaven is richer. Someday I'll join my brother in the Lord.

God's blessing and love to all of you.

Sandi and family, Ron was a special man with a way of making each of us feel special as well. I coached with Ron at Holdenville, OK & Clyde, TX, and I truly loved and respected the man and the life he lived to the fullest. I can still hear that big 'booming' laugh that always made me laugh with him. Thank you God for giving us Ron and the legacy of serving that he lived. In Christ.

I first met Ron when I joined the First Baptist Church 6 years ago. I have never met a person with such an outlook on life and a love for the Lord. He inspired everyone he ever met. The Tuesday night studies was such a blessing because Ron made you think and get into the word. I really miss him telling me you goofy old guy. Our thoughts are with the family.

Dear Sandi and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Coach Taylor's passing. He was an amazing coach/teacher whom I have never forgotten. Just this past summer I asked Coach Johnston about him when I saw him at a basketball tournament in Albany. He was such an inspiration to me at Clyde High School, and I know our football guys were better people and better players because of him. He encouraged me and taught me in so many ways. One of my fondest memories is of him playing basketball with us in the old Clyde gym after school. He was so physical and so brilliant, and didnt mind fouling us even though we were girls!!! haha!! I loved that man, as so did all of us!! May you find comfort in knowing that he touched so many lives in so many different ways. God Bless you all.

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, Sandy, Erick & Mindy. Our family was so saddened to hear of Ron's passing. He truly was a remarkable man who reflected the love of Christ wherever he was. We will always remember the times of fellowship we had with him at church, at your home and the homes of others. We remember his sweet smile and his encouragements. Though we all will miss him, we rejoice that he has and is seeing HIM face to face. We love you all!

Dear Sandi, Erick, Mindy, Aunt Dorothy, Uncle Harry, and all the rest of you long lost cousins and second-cousins and cousins-in-law,

You may be shocked to hear from me at all, given my silence all these years. Believe it or not, "cousin Ronnie" was very much on my mind for the past couple of weeks. I even told (wife) Joan that I need to contact him. I will always regret that I did not act on that impulse more quickly. I've missed you all, and sincerely regret not being able to attend the services and be together with you all in this time of loss. What a shock. And what a loss to our world.

I know you must be flooded with well-wishers at this time, and this may not be the best time to begin to get re-aquainted, yet I am so poor at distant communication that I found myself hampered in contacting Ron when the inspiration came by not even having any of your e-mail addresses!

As soon as you feel up to it, feel free just to drop me two-words "hello cousin" in the subject line with your e-mail address. Our e-mail is [email protected] -- yes, that's capital D and lower case d, I didn't stutter.

Ron was loved by everyone who knew him. I'm sorry we didn't grow closer. Sandi, I know he was your life as much as you were his. We can only immagine how difficult this will be for you. Even now we are completing a church seminar on depression and grief recovery from a world renowned cutting edge authority from Oklahoma. I wish you could have taken this very informative, inspirational, and helpful course with us. It will take time, but no matter how it seems at this moment -- this is NOT the end of your world! Though the loss is real and tremendous to you, Ron is resting in perfect peace, and will be reunited with you at the sound of that final trump of God!

Meanwhile, God has a great work ahead of each of us. Let's all "give 'em heaven!" God be with each of you.

Sincerely,
Dale & Joan

Dear Taylor Family. I am so sorry for your loss. In Durant, OK in 1977, Coach Taylor was a hugh inspiration to me and continued to inspire and motivate me all my life. There have been many times when I have thought of Coach Taylor and the effect that he had on my life. He was a truly special person and I will never forget him

Dear Taylor Family, So sorry for your loss. Coach Taylor was an inspiration to many and touched so many lives. He was my coach (track) at Durant 77-79. He actually was the boys coach but took me underneath his wings and developed me into a winner! He is the very reason I became a teacher/coach. He was an awesome person and his legacy lives through you! God bless you! Kim Pena Morris (Durant, Ok)

I've only known Ron Taylor for a very short couple of years. I never knew him as "Coach" in the athletic realm.
I'm sure he was GREAT. I am truly blessed to have been "coached" by Brother Ron in the men's Bible study that he initiated for the men in his Life Group. I'm sure that I could hear him say when he saw Heaven's open gate,
"Thank You Jeeeeeeeeeesssus".
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of Ron's family and friends.
We will all surely miss him.

Ron was my coach and teacher at PCN in 86, 87. When I moved to Florida, he had become a grad assistant with OU. When they played in Jacksonville at the Gator Bowl, we got in touch and I got to thank him for pushing me so hard. His presence will always be felt in my life. Regrets to his family, but know that he was loved and appreciated.

Coach Taylor, always a smile, a kind word and a firm handshake. Never complained, constantly built others up. A true life role model. Made a difference every day. Payed it forward further than he ever new. Truly one of the best people I have ever met. You will be missed but never forgotten. Thanks for making a difference.

Sandi, Erick, Mindy, Aunt Dorothy, Uncle Harry & family,

Ron was a beautiful shining light in this troubled world. He was a blessing to all who encountered him and he will be remembered as a positive, loving Christian who never gave up his crusade for the Lord.

God bless and keep all of you at this time of sorrow and remember God's Word:

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away..."
Revelation 21:4

Ron is free of all his earth-bound suffering and pain!

Hallelulah!

Ron so quickly and warmly welcomed me into this family last year, and he left no doubt as to where his heart lay...with his Lord and his family. I know that when I pass to the other side of Glory, that smile and powerful handshake will be there, one of the first to welcome me once again. Erick and Mindy, you both have meant more to me than you know, and I hope I can be the kind of father to my children that Ron was to you.

I offer my condolences to Coach Taylor’s family. I cannot express enough how Coach Taylor affected and changed my life. He was a very good man, a GREAT coach, and an inspiration to those he came into contact with. The Clyde Bulldogs of 1980 instantly became better because he came in, fired us up, and got us to lifting and believing in ourselves. I wish I could have had him for 4 years instead of just one. Thanks Coach T, YOU ARE THE MAN! God Bless. Jim Durham

I am very sorry for your loss. Coach Taylor touched so many lives in his time here on earth. The last time I saw him was a few years back and just like back at PCN he came up and slapped me on the chest and said "Hey Fatboy" and gave me a hug. I know he is dancing today with our Lord and wondering which offense his team in Heaven will run this season. God bless you Coach and god bless you to his family.
