Jim Wilson Obituary

June 27, 1932 - June 8, 2011 DEL CITY Jim "Skeet" Wilson was called home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2011. Skeet was born June 27, 1932 in Ryan, Oklahoma to Roy and Ida Wilson. He spent his early years working on his family farm in Ryan. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was discharged in 1955. Skeet married LaVerne Allen on April 18, 1953. In 1958, he moved with his family to Del City, Oklahoma where he lived for 53 years. Skeet worked as a machinist for Kimray for 44 years before retiring in 2002. His wife of 24 years passed away in 1977. In 2000, he married his longtime companion of 17 years, Audean Smith. Skeet will be most remembered for his faith in God, love for his family, and loyalty to his friends. He was also a member of In-Faith Baptist Church in Norman. Skeet is survived by wife, Audean; sons, Ron Wilson and wife, Jill, Randy Wilson and wife, Sheila, Rick Leidenfrost-Wilson and husband, Christopher, Dennis Wilson and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Jeff Wilson and wife Mendy, Jami Ledoux, Dylan Wilson, Chelsea Wilson, Shelby Wilson, and Shannon Wilson; great grandchildren, Haley Wilson, Riley Wilson, Brayden Ledoux, Brooke Wilson, and Parker Wilson; sister, LaJuana McDonald; step children, Terry Smith and wife Diane, Rick Smith, Debbie Ferguson and husband Gary, David Smith and wife Sherry, Steve Smith and wife Patty; 11 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren; and many cousins and friends. Skeet is preceded in death by parents and the mother of his sons, LaVerne Wilson. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff of Midwest City Regional Hospital, including Dana, Simi, Sabrina, Jamie, Barry, Megan, Katelyn, Jeanie, and a host of others from the 5th and 3rd floors who lovingly cared for our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend during his final days with us. Viewing for Skeet will be held at Ford Funeral Service from 8am-8pm on Friday, June 10. Services honoring Skeet's life will be held at Sunny Lane Family Church 4221 SE 41, Del City, OK on Saturday June 11, 2011 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
