I had the priviledge meeting Mark last year in Oklahoma City when the Oklahoma State Labor Commissioner hosted our national conference. I quickly found him engaging, quick witted and a man with a mission to serve his fellow Oklahomans. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Costello family.

May Mark's soul rest with Jesus. He was a great man and an outstanding Father and Husband. My children attended school with his daughter Caitlin, and we also attended the same Parrish as the Costello family.
Mark will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

While giving out roses on Rose Day at the Capitol, a photographer took a photo of Rep. Newell and me. A few days later, a laminated version of the article arrived at my home address along with a sweet note from Commissioner Costello. I was surprised by his personal touch, and touched by his love of life for the unborn. And I'll always treasure my Oklahoma bling pin that I won at one of the meetings he spoke at because I knew a Reagan quote. It was always a joy to be in Mark's presence, and even more so when he and Cathy were together. You inspire me to live more boldly.

Cathy: I`m so so sorry Mark is the only person I ever did any work for that I didn't have any bad things to say about. I loved working for him. He didn`t ever treat me as any less of a person as him. The world has lost a very special person. He will be greatly missed by all. It has been a pleasure to have had him in my life! Thank You Mark, RIP

Our memories of the Commissioner will always be fond and rich. He was a kind, gracious, creative, servant of the Lord and to the people of Oklahoma. He listened attentively and demonstrated respect to all. I remember a piece of Zimbabwe currency he brought to so many political meetings to illustrate the egregious nature of an out-of-control national debt. I recall his creativity in proclaiming his message with vignettes and choruses; even a Barbershop quartet. A dedicated family man, well-respected by all, and we will miss him greatly.
Cathy, we are praying for you and your family and may the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, put His loving arms around you and sustain you.

We happily voted for Mark in both Labor Commissioner elections and appreciated his values. After reading all the statements made by leaders in the state who knew him and this obituary, we are sorry we did not know him. Please accept our sincere sympathy, and we will be praying to the Father for His enormous healing and peace that passes all understanding for his family.

Mark was in one of my 8th grade English classes in 1969-70. He was one of the top, all-around smart/clever/creative students I taught. I recall that for our Home Room Assembly, we were going to enact "Scenes from Tom Sawyer." He and Mark Denyer, also in that 2nd hour class and a neighbor of the Costellos in the south end of town, wanted to have running water on stage to replicate the Mississippi River. I vetoed that but told him that could make waves of wood and have them on stage...and they did. I always thought he would be governor some day.

I met Mark Costello over 20 years ago, and he was a friendly, vibrant entrepreneur that was always on the "go". He was dedicated to his family, his church, and his convictions. As everyone who met him knows, he was one of those rare people that made friends with everyone he met. At a point in life where he could have comfortably sat back and enjoyed his success, he dedicated himself to public service and always lived up to his promises. My family will pray for yours, Mark, and we will miss you deeply.
