James Decker Obituary

HINSDALE - James A. Decker, of Route 16, died Wednesday (Oct 15, 2014) at his home, following a long illness.

Born Oct. 13, 1950, in Franklinville, he was the son of Harry and Esther Kibbler Decker. On Oct. 17, 1971, in Franklinville, he married the former Mary Preston, who died March 27, 2004.

Mr. Decker served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 and was in Vietnam. He was employed by the city of Olean in waste water department from 1972 to 1995. James was a member of the American Legion Post 1434 of Hinsdale and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed Collecting Vietnam memorabilia and made jewelry.

Surviving is a daughter, Tammie Decker of Hinsdale; and a brother, David Decker of Little Valley.

He was predeceased by a brother, Jamie Alan Decker; and a sister, Julia Dziekonski.

Friends may gather with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 18, 2014) in the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville, where a short funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Mack Bixby, of the Farmersville Center Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Prospect Cemetery, Franklinville.
