Ronald Hailston Obituary

GEORGETOWN >> Ronald E. Hailston, 74, of Georgetown, N.Y., surrounded by his family, went to be with his Lord on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2016. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Letitia Hailston (Griffith); his children, Fara Grange (Carl), Jeani Wilcox (Russell), Lisa Matthews (Steven) and Phillip; eight beloved grandchildren, Justin (Michelle), Scott (Jennifer), Jeffery, Kevin, Sean, Brooke, Zachary and Megan and four precious great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Maci, Mason and Jakob. He is also survived by his seven siblings, Barbara Mezik, Joyce Will, Earl Hailston (Nancy), David Hailston, Alan Hailston (Shawn), Dorothy Hailston and Deborah Hailston-Jaworski, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Beatrice Hailston of West Winfield, N.Y. and Carlton and Mary Prior of Clayville, N.Y.; his infant son, Ronald Hailston Jr., and infant granddaughter, Amy Gordon.
Ronnie was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church for more than 53 years. He served the Town of Georgetown as Town Justice for 45 years. He was also a 50+ year member of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Squad, serving in the capacities of assistant chief, chaplain and secretary during that time. He had also served as the justice in the Village of Earlville. He was former president of the Madison County Magistrates Association.
Ronnie was a lifelong dairy farmer, working on various dairy farms since the age of 13. He was a generous friend and neighbor, always there to help in times of need. He achieved his dream of owning his own farm at the age of 58, when he and Tish happily began raising their own animals with love, sweat, and candy corn. He was an avid hunter, sharing that passion with his children and grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at Georgetown United Methodist Church on Friday, Dec. 30 at 2:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 12 p.m. There will be a reception following at the Georgetown Firehouse. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department in Ronnie's name.
