Elizabeth Johnson Obituary

Elizabeth Davis Johnson, 75, of Watkinsville, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018. Liz was a devout student of the Bible, faithful and loving wife to her late husband of 42 years, proud mother, and fiercely loyal friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Vann Davis and Margaret Elanor Lazenby Davis, her husband William Clifford "Wick" Johnson, Jr., and her sister, Mary Vann Dennison. She is survived by her children Michael William Johnson (Elizabeth) of Watkinsville and Mary Johnson Eppley (Lee) of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren: William Cole Johnson and Lily Ashton Johnson. Liz grew up in Gallatin, TN and attended Vanderbilt University and Peabody College. She obtained her Masters of Social Work from UGA and worked with Athens Mental Health for many years. She loved her church, Campus View, her friends, literature, classic TV, the mountains and music of all types. She loved her dog Blaise, believed ghosts were real, and sometimes told jokes with bad language. Liz had a wonderful life and is undoubtedly in the presence of God. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7. A celebration of Liz's life will be held Monday, June 18, 2018 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Flowers may be sent to Lord & Stephens West at 1211 Jimmy Daniel Road Bogart, Georgia 30622. Lord & Stephens is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com

I still miss you so. You were instrumental in my journey to know the Lord, and were the one who encouraged me to go to nursing school...Thank you for all of that.

Mary & Michael, still thinking of you in your time of loss. I wish that I had been in town to celebrate your mother's full life and future glory. I will remember Liz for being a great storyteller, great singer, great cook, social justice warrior, and wife of a good man. God truly blessed us all with Liz and Wick. May He continue to comfort you.

Michael, Mary,
I am sorry for your loss. Your mother was an inspiration to so many. Her faith and love for the Lord bolstered me and my family during a very trying time in my life and far beyond. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

Michael and Mary,
I worked with your Mother at Advantage BHS for several years and found her to be a very gentle, loving lady and an outstanding, dedicated therapist to those we served. And I can tell you that she was very proud of the two of you, mentioning your names frequently at work.
May your warm memories sustain you during this difficult time and may she rest in peace free from pain. I am sorry I am not in Athens to attend her service.

I hate it but I have a conflict and will not be able to attend the memorial on Monday. Your mother was a very special lady to me and others as you know. She is at peace now and singing joyfully in heaven. She once told me she knew all the hymns by memory. Y'all were very good to her and she loved you dearly.

I love you Liz.
