Being in Oregon for the last 15 years or so, one misses a lot that deals with family, friends, families of friends and old schoolmates. But the pain of a loss such as this is felt throughout all our hearts and souls. But one must understand...there was a reason - be it beyond our ability to understand or something greater - and Gary will cease to suffer and enjoy the raptures of all we hold to be true as he makes his final journey. Both Debbie and I express our most profound sadness at this passing and want you to know our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

I graduated with Jim Gary's older brother. Gary was an underclassman
emphasis should be placed on 'man'.
Gary was friendly and well liked. He was a leader in his class but who would have believed that he would have the affect on the world that he did. He will be missed. God bless the family and all his friends.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. There is nothing in this world that compares to the loss of a loved one. I do know that Gary would not have been the person he was and came to be, without the concrete foundation of you and your children. It is truly a small world though, I learned that my close friend, Nina Hines Rakes is a neighbor of your parents. She told me how she would watch your daughter walk the pet pig on Collis Avenue while attending MU. I feel with all you have been through, God has been with you all and will continue to walk with each of you. May God Bless you all. A friend from South Point High.

My deepest sympathy to the Dudley family. God gives us such a short time on this planet. To be fortunate enough to find and share some of that time with a beautiful spirit like Gary is our blessing. My prayers go out to Tammie, her family, and all our Tri-State friends, who knew and loved Gary. It is a great loss. But Gary lives on in our memory with his laugh, and fun loving way of brightening a room when he walked through the door.
May God Bless and Keep You

We send our deepest sympthy to Gary's family and friends. We were friends and high school classmates who unfortunately didn't stay in contact after high school. I wish we had. After reading about Gary's accomplishments in the academic world and the way he handled his physical setbacks, I feel proud to say that I knew Gary. He is an inspiration to us all.

I remember wishing my sister would like him as a boyfriend coz I felt like he was my big brother,he hung at our house so much...along with the rest of em that played ball at the locks...looking at the articles he had a life to be very proud of. I will keep his family and other friends in my prayer's...I'm sure Dr. Kilgore and my Mom were there to walk him home. Looking forward to seeing him again one day. It's strange how you don't see people for year's but when they are gone you realize what an impact or how they touched your life. He made this tomboy of a girl feel right at home with the guys on the court.

Love everyone, everyday, every minute...

Our deepest sympathies to Gary's family. I didn't know Gary, but was truly inspired by his courage after I read about his rehab following the accident. It would have been so easy to just give up after such a terrible tragedy. I could tell a lot about his character just from reading that article. He really seemed to be a shining example of how a person should live his life--something we can all admire and learn from.

To Gary's family, please know how much I am thinking of you during this most difficult time. He was such a fun free spirit that lit up everyones life that he touched. He was a joy to be around as a teenager and so full of life. I am glad that I was blessed with having known him. Classmate, Beverlee Cooke Collins

Tammy, Kara and the other family members. I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Dudley's passing. He was such a inspiration to me-watching him each day with his positive attitude, smile and humor. We are all so blessed to have had him touch our lives in such a special way. I will never forget him or you. Your strong support and love are examples to us all. My prayers continue to be with you. Let me know if I can help in anyway. "MaMa C"

This is very sad news. Gary committed his life to furthering research on spinal cord injury for which I am personally grateful. His legacy will include his work, the students he mentored, the colleagues he leaves behind, and mostly his loving family.

With admiration for a wonderful teacher, researcher, and role model; and with sympathy to the family. The University of Georgia is a better
place and the Athens/Watkinsville area is a better community because of Dr. Dudley's presence among us.
