Jocelyn R. Neufeld M.D.

Athens, GA - Dr. Jocelyn R. Neufeld, 80, of Athens, passed on Wednesday March 17, 2004. She is preceded in death by her husband C.H. Harry Neufeld, she is survived by a daughter Alison Neufeld of San Francisco, CA., son, Chris Neufeld of Bogart, and a daughter and son-in-law, Hilary and Harry Shuford of Findlay, OH, a sister, Margaret B. Owen of British Columbia. Dr. Neufeld received medical training at the University of Manitoba and the University of Wisconsin. She practiced anesthesiology in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and San Francisco before moving to Athens with her family in 1968, where she practiced at St. Mary's Hospital until her retirement in 1983. Dr. Neufeld served as an elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Athens and the Board of Directors of the Athens Council on Aging. A memorial service will be held on Friday March 19, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church of Athens at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Glenn Doak officiating. Interment will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable contributions, if so desired, be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Athens or the Athens Community Council on Aging in Dr. Neufeld's memory. The family will receive friends at Bridges Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Bridges Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
