ALICE AVERY Obituary

Avery, Alice Marguerite O'Neill Born January 28, 1917 in Los Angeles; died Tuesday, July 22, at her home of seventy-six years in Brentwood.

Predeceased by her husbands, James Moiso and Waldo Avery, "Moks" is survived by her sons, Anthony (Melinda) and Jerome (Judith) Moiso and Douglas Avery (Lisa); eight grandchildren - Trina Lamkin (Marc), Cristy Sellas (Eric), Anne Marie Leonard (Jim), Frandy Laster (Jeremy), Jerome Joseph Moiso, and Eric, Lauren, and Richard Avery; and thirteen great-grandchildren - Sienna Shattuck, Austin and Ava Lamkin, Daisy and Mandy Sellas, Reese and Luke Leonard, and Anthony, Lonnie Augustine, John Paul, Dorathy, Rita, and Francesca Laster.

Alice's love of life, family, friends, people, and "The Ranch" is very special. Proud of her sixth generation Southern California heritage, she relished Rancho Mission Viejo's annual rodeo, brandings, "fandangos", early California history, and "Californio hospitality". Down through almost one hundred years, Alice's enthusiasm for entertaining, traveling, playing golf, gardening, painting, giving, and just being with her family and friends brought great joy to her and to all. Moreover, her strong Catholic faith will serve as an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

The Funeral Mass is planned at Brentwood's St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in early September.

In lieu of flowers, Alice's family encourages contributions to St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 11967 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90049 or the The Heart of Jesus Retreat Center (Society Devoted to the Sacred Heart), 2927 South Greenville, Santa Ana, CA 92704. Vaya con Dios, Moks. We will miss you forever.

Dear Tony and Melinda and family,
Alice O'Neil Avery was an outstanding woman. We were always impressed with her graciousness at so many events with so many people. The fact that she could call them all by name is testament to her intelligent and caring nature. A dynamic person who will not be forgotten by those of us privileged to have been in her company.
Blessings and hugs from our family to yours. Nancy and Rod

I met Mrs. Avery once, at the house of Mirta and Myron Caton, when I visited both of them and Lucy. I was honored to meet a very special human being, a woman with a very beautiful soul. I want to extend my family's most sincere condolences to Mrs. Avery's family on an irreparable loss that we all share.
