Darren Kerr Obituary

Kerr, Darren Lee, 41, of Yorba Linda, passed away October 1st, 2010 in Aliso Viejo from injuries sustained in a solo-vehicle auto accident. Darren was born in Inglewood, California on April 23rd, 1969, and lived his entire life in Southern California. Darren graduated from La Quinta High School in Westminster in 1987, where he excelled at football. Darren's enthusiasm, energy, and good-hearted sense of humor made him the type of person that attracted friends from all walks of life. Darren was an entrepreneur and restaurant manager for well-known establishments such as Hennessey's in Laguna Beach and Dana Point, My Place in Huntington Beach, and The Alibi Bar & Grill in Corona. Many people who visited those restaurants entered as patrons or co-workers and soon became Darren's close friends. Darren loved going to Angel games, Big Bear, the River, or just about anywhere that involved bringing families together to enjoy life. Many of those trips included his countless friends from East Yorba Linda Little League, where Darren coached his son's team for many years. Darren is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Linda "Windy" Kerr, their 12 year old son, Tanner; his brother, Bill Kerr; his sister, Julie Kerr-Backus; his brother, Kevin Tygard, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws whom he loved dearly. Darren is preceded in death by his father, Arnold Anthony Kerr; his mother, Joann Tygard; and his great Aunt "Dottie" who helped raise him to become the amazing man, husband, and father he was. A visitation will be held at McAulay & Wallace Mortuaries on Thursday, October 7th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The mortuary is located at 902 N. Harbor Blvd, Fullerton CA 92832. A memorial service and mass will be held at Santa Clara de Asis Catholic Church on Friday, October 8th at 9:30 a.m. The church is located at 22005 Avenida de la Paz, Yorba Linda CA 92887. Tanner has requested that those attending the visitation or memorial come in casual attire. For the Friday service, he's hoping that guests will wear the apparel of their favorite sports team or, better yet, Darren's favorite teams…the Angels or Indianapolis Colts. Donations for Darren's family can be made at Wells Fargo Bank by referencing the Kerr Memorial Fund. McAulay & Wallace Mortuary

This is for Tanner...

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Tanner..Your dad was very proud of you..and loved you.. Remember this poem when you need a little extra support!! xoxo Happy New year!! :)
I went to High School with your dad..he was a year a head of me.. he was always very kind and smiling and a lot of fun to be around.. He is really missed by all of us..we all share in your sadness and loss.. please know we are all here for you!! :) Take care!! Keep living your best life and keep doing well in school..and sports.. Your dad would want you to be doing your best!! :)

"Since Heaven has become your home I sometimes feel I'm so alone; and though we now are far apart you hold a big piece of my heart. I never knew how much I'd grieve when it was time for you to leave or just how much my heart would ache from that one fragment you would take. God lets this tender hole remain reminding me we'll meet again, and one day all the pain will cease when he restores this missing piece. He'll turn to joy my ever tear with thoughts of you I hold so dear, and they'll become my special way to treasure our "Reunion Day""

My Love, My Life, My Best Friend...Thank You for loving me, for standing and being by my side, always, for the laughter you brought to our lives, for giving me our greatest blessing...our son, Tanner. He has so much of you in him & I am so grateful for that...I see you everyday. I promised to love, honor and cherish you...always and forever. I love and miss you with all my heart and soul...a part of who I am is missing and life will never be the same without you here, but I promise to treasure our life together, cherish our precious moments, shared joys and beautiful memories and never lose sight of who I am because of you and who we were together. I promise to do my best to continue to raise our son just as we planned...to love, to laugh, to play, to have confidence, be the best he can be, do the best he can do, smile, be a good friend, shoot for the stars, be inspired to dream & have hope & faith in his dreams, to always be honest & true to himself, his beliefs and not to compromise what he knows is right, to be himself and to live every day to the fullest; appreciating the little things and life itself. I Love You & carry You in my heart, always. Thank you for blessing my life, for the countless moments that took my breath away and for giving me the gift of YOU, my husband, my bright and shining star, my Angel. All My Love, Your Wife, Mama (I pray for sweet dreams of and with you every night just after our triple kisses).

I'd wear my Steelers gear in his restaurant and he'd give me "heck" being a Colts fan!! God bless the Kerr family. Nancy Phillips, Murrieta, Ca
