Alfred William Neely

Neely, Alfred William, born May 26, 1917, died peacefully after a short illness, October 11, 2010, Mission Viejo, Ca. Loving husband of Eloise Layton for 63 years. Children, Dr. A. William Neely, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Cynthia, Hilarie Neely Job and son-in-law Steven Job. Also surviving are grandchildren, Dr. Tyler Neely, Lt. Nicolas Neely, Matthew Job, Travis Job and step grandchildren Amber Chalmers and Kaelin Chvala, and brother in Phoenix, Az., Willard Rosboro Neely. Alfred was born and raised in Chicago, Ill. and worked his way through college. He was an electrical engineer (B.S.E.E. Univ. of Illinois), marketing professional, pioneer of the tape recording industry. His business career started with McDonald-Douglas Aircraft after graduation in 1943. He was very proud of his work designing and troubleshooting war planes in WWII. His career culminated in his company, CDM Products Corp. He had several product development patents (ie. The Universal Power Supply) and was an expert in the import/export and marketing of home entertainment electronics. He loved to travel, golf, garden, do-it yourself projects around his home. He served as deacon and trustee of the Presbyterian Church, Northbrook, Ill. where he made his home for 29 years, also serving on the board of Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Mission Viejo Country Club since he and his wife moved from Illinois 24 years ago. A memorial service is planned for November 20, 11:00 a.m., Presbyterian Church of the Master, Mission Viejo.
