Genevieve Szwaczyk Obituary

Szwaczyk, Genevieve Stasiewicz, 89, was born Oct. 10, 1921 in Chicago, IL and passed away Oct. 27, 2010 in Irvine, CA. Genevieve is survived by her devoted sons Dr. William Stasiewicz and wife Carol of Reno, NV, Dr. Carl Stasiewicz and wife Linda of Whittier, CA, Dr. John Stasiewicz and wife Caroline of Irvine, CA, Dr. Paul Stasiewicz and wife Lourdes of Alexandria, VA, and loving daughter Judith and son-in-law Dr. Jack Brush of Richmond VA; beloved sisters Helen Hulsman of Michigan City, IN, Jane Nowacki of Munster, IN and Edna Lucas of Calumet City, IL; 16 cherished grandchildren and 11 endearing great-grandchildren. Genevieve was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. William Stasiewicz of Chicago, IL, her second husband Melvin Szwaczyk of Chicago, IL and blessed granddaughter, Courtlandt Stasiewicz of Alexandria, VA. Genevieve led a very active social and business life in the Chicago area until her move to California in 2001. She continued to travel across country visiting family and friends, was an avid bridge player and remained a steadfast member of her parish church. Genevieve's health declined within the last year, yet despite physical pain she remained cheerfully optimistic. Her intelligence, curiosity and interest in life endured until the end. She died suddenly and will be respectfully remembered by her grateful family and friends. Genevieve always welcomed everyone into her home and heart, inspired all who met her and was a model mother and wife. Her beauty, elegance and loving spirit will forever be honored and her vibrant presence will be dearly missed by all. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 31, 2010, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at O'Connor Mortuary, Laguna Hills, CA, following immediately by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 1, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Irvine, CA. Judy,John,Bill,Carl & Paul, Your mom was one in a million and was a very hard-working woman. You are all successful and happy due to your mom's fabulous spirit and GREAT cooking. Marquette Univ. would have been dismal without those care packages from her kitchen. My deepest sympathies to you.

Grammi, we love you so much and our hearts are broken that you are no longer with us. We feel so privileged that we had you so many years in our lives, and our lives are all richer that you were in it. You will always remain in our hearts. We know you are OUR guardian angel now. We love you forever and ever!!!
