Knowing your mother is a treasured memory of my life on Santa Ana Ave and my children all tell stories of the gracious neighbor she was. What a comfort to know that she is now at peace with her Savior. Love to the family. Esther Todd (Sioux City, IA)

I loved how Velma always accepted me as family from the moment Mel and I met. I would look forward to visits to her home to hear the wonderful family and "historical tales of yor" for hours on end. She knew I was an enthusiastic listener and she would often scurry to her back bedroom and bring boxes of old photos to share with me while I sipped her delicious coffee and homemade baked goods she always had in case company dropped by.
I'll always treasure the peach-colored pillow case borders she handmade and the teapot that "Melvy bought for me for Mother's Day, when he got his first job working on the Wharf when he was 14 " that I inherited...my very special treasures of her very giving heart. Thank you, "Mrs. P" for sharing so much of yourself with me and becoming such close friends with my mom (she always loved spending time with you on the holidays!) I have many loving memories to keep you 'immortal' by passing down your stories to my grandchildren onward.
