Dawn Keene Obituary

Keene, Dawn L. (1951-2010) Dawn Keene left this world to join her Savior in Heaven on October 21, 2010. Born in Loyalton, PA September 17, 1951, the third child of Rev. Harold and Arlene Young, Dawn lived in several towns in Southeastern Pennsylvania. She graduated from Warwick high School, Lititz, PA, in 1970. Dawn went on to obtain a B.S. in Education at West Chester State University in the Class of 1974. Dawn met Dennis Keene, the love of her life, at W.C.S.C. In 1970 and they married in September 1972. Dawn is survived by Dennis, her husband of 38 years, and their 2 daughters, Dana and Allison. Dana is married to Dong Kim, and they have a daughter, Rebecca, whom Dawn adored. Allison, married to Michael Hubbard, gave birth to a daughter, Fiona Dawn, 3 days after Dawn's passing. Dawn was a substitute teacher in the Anaheim City School District for 17 years before finding her true calling and passion as a school librarian. Dawn loved children and children's literature. She was the Librarian at John Marshall Elementary School for the past 10 years and touched the lives of hundreds of children. From her they learned to love reading. They also learned they were loved by Dawn, who often read her favorite books to them. Dawn loved the outdoors and to the delight of her husband and friends, enjoyed playing sports in particular, Dawn loved to play soccer and enjoyed watching soccer more than any other sport. Dawn belonged to Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Tustin, CA and was an alto in Trinity's Chancel Choir for the past 6 years. Dawn considered singing in the choir an essential part of her Christian life and used singing in the choir an a way to praise the Lord. Dawn was a Christian and lived her life according to the example provided by Jesus Christ. She loved the Lord and, in her most unassuming way, ministered to many in school, at church, her neighborhood and the soccer field. Besides her husband, daughters and granddaughters, Dawn is survived by her sister, Lenoir; wife of the Rev. Terrence Wible (Lebanon, PA) and her brother, Harold Lee Young and his wife, Trudy (Lebanon, PA). Dawn will be remembered and missed by all those who knew her. Those who knew her loved her and will keep her memory alive. Fairhaven Memorial Park
