Dean and I were in USMC electronics school in 1965. I then spoke to him by phone at Camp Pendleton staging battalion, prior to our tours to Vietnam during late December 1966. Marie had made an excellent jelly roll cake that Dean brought from home for our electronics class to share. God Bless all of the Polhamus family,

To Marie and family - I just came across Dean's guest book while reading The Register from my home in Minnesota. I have great memories of Dean, back in the late 70s and early 80s at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. He was always passionate about his faith and his family and a great example of how to live a good life.
I also remember a visit to Hawaii and a wonderful day with your family. Doesn't seem like that long ago.
Know that your Dad made a wonderful impact and contribution to whoever he met along the way.
Take care of each other.

Marie and family,
My deepest sympathies to you all on the physical loss of a wonderful man. I know my father was quite fond of Dean and I hope they have met again. In addition, both Marie and Dean were always there for my parents and we appreciate it. Thank you and God Bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have very vivid memories of Dean allowing Jason and I to clean all of the windows on their house, and then proceeding to make us do it again once he found the job to be less than acceptable.
I'll always remember him as one of my best friends "tough" dad, as i grew up, i realized that he was a great guy also. I regret not knowing him better in adulthood, but i know his family and friends will hold him in the highest regard.

"There are no words to express our deepest loss. Dad you were a rare gem, one in a million. Thank you for all that you were to us, especially the example of loving our Mom, Marie. You taught us, your daughters and sons, what it meant to be a True Gentlemen. Meaning, for your daughters to marry one and your sons to be one. Thank you for the wonderful memories Dad. The pain that we feel is almost unbearable. Just know Dad that you are GREATLY missed, but will NEVER be forgotten. Until we meet again, God Bless you, dear Poppi"
Your loving daughter, Catherine

I find it hard to put into words how much love, honor, and gratitude I have for my dad. For the first few years of my life he was just dad and a great one he was. He was my mentor, my teacher, and ideal for everything in life. It was not later in my life when he let me into his world that he became so much more to me. He became my friend and truly saw how special he really was. My personal loss is great, but the loss to the world of such generous and kind man will also be felt by more than just his family.
