Francis Van Gundy Obituary

Van Gundy, Francis Lloyd, died January 8, 2011 at Oak Grove Manor Assisted Living in Waynesboro, VA. A son of the late Curtis H. and Rachel E. (Parker) Van Gundy, he was born July 11, 1930 in Neosho Rapids, Kansas. A 1948 graduate of Emporia High School (KS), he then graduated from State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Following his marriage to Marguerita Jean Kidd on August 20, 1950, he joined the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He began a career in the printing business, culminating at the US Government Printing Office in Washington, DC where he helped set type for the Congressional Record. He began his own electrical contracting business (Van's Electric) in Fairfax, VA moving to Rockbridge Baths, VA in the 1970s. Mr. Van Gundy was predeceased by his wife and his brother, Lt. Cmdr. Clarence Duane Van Gundy (USN). He is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Van Gundy of Waynesboro; son, Paul Van Gundy of Lexington, VA; grandson, Christopher Brubaker of Waynesboro, and brother, Harold Van Gundy of Anaheim, CA.
