Harriett Simmons Obituary

Simmons, Harriett Joetta The heroic life of Harriett Joetta Simmons ended August 11, 2010 at St Jude's after complications following her 3rd bout with breast cancer. She was 84. Joetta had a tragic life as she lost 2 husbands to plane crashes after 7 months of marriage and a son, Phillip Ray Dorroh, to AIDS when he was 35. And yet she retired as a successful educator, businesswoman and world traveler. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Engler USN, Ray Dorroh USN, Joseph Liles Army and Robert Simmons USN. Her sister, Sally Davidson, also preceded her demise. Joetta was a faithful member of Eastside Christian Church. She showed great compassion and understanding during the final year of Phillip's life. She was truly a great woman. She is survived by her daughter, Joan and William Dolan; grandchildren, Stacy and Stephanie Dolan; her son, James and Marganna Dorroh; married grandchildren, Alicia and Jason James, Jennifer and Jeremy Cash, David and Jody Dorroh; 4 great grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah James and Mathew and Emily Cash; her brother-in-law, Tom Davidson, nieces, Kelly and AL Chou, Kristy and Hart Nelson and nephew Scott Davidson. Having not been aware of the death and funeral, a memorial service will be held for the remainder of the family and friends at 3 P.M. 10-10-2010 at the San Joaquin River behind the home of James Dorroh, in Manteca Ca.
