Joan Elaine Van Vooren

Van Vooren (Moras), Joan Elaine 79, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2010. Born in Philadelphia in 1930, Joan led a unique life serving in the Foreign Service in Ankara, Turkey as a young woman, achieving her pilot's license and becoming a member of the Civil Air Patrol, being a secretary in the legal and aerospace fields and being a mother to her five children. Joan leaves behind six grandchildren and is survived by her daughters, Marie Christensen and Julie Hull and sons, Dr. Ed Van Vooren and Jamie Van Vooren. She was predeceased by son, John, who died of Cystic Fibrosis. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered over Lake Tahoe, Nevada, where she formerly had a home. We can't imagine our lives without her and will miss her immensely. She now rests in the beloved arms of Jesus Christ, her Savior. She is in our hearts and will be loved and missed forever.
