LLOYD RASMUSSEN Obituary

Rasmussen, Lloyd M February 6, 1934 to December 3, 2010. Lloyd completed his mortal life at his home in Santa Ana surrounded by his wife and six children. He was born in Monroe, Utah, played basketball for and graduated from BYU, served in the U.S. armed forces, moved to Orange County in 1959 and became one of its prominent citizens. Over 50 years ago, Lloyd joined New York Life Insurance Company and founded what is now Rasmussen Financial & Insurance. He quickly became a top-producing agent and was gratified to provide important death and retirement benefits to many families who today are financially secure and to businesses that continue to operate due to his efforts. Lloyd's family and faith have always been preeminent in his life. He dedicated countless volunteer hours serving as a home teacher, bishop, stake president, mission president, and regional representative of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The fitting culmination of his church service was his call to serve as a member of the presidency of the Newport Beach California Temple. Lloyd took his discipleship seriously and left his descendents with an abiding reverence for the sacred. He was a living example of his testimony that miracles can and do occur through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Sharon; six children; thirty-one grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center located at 674 S. Yorba Street in the City of Orange.

Sister Rasmussen,

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of President Rasmussen. He was truly an inspirational man and I am so grateful to have served with him on my mission. I will never forget sitting in his office when I had become sick and him telling me that I needed to go home and I was determined not to go home early, he told me that if I was his daughter he would be kicking my butt all the way home. He truly had a great love for the missionaries and thought of us as his children. You were also a great inspiration to me as well.

My family extends our love and sympathy to you and your family.

Mrs. Rasmussen and Family -- It has been many years since I have seen you but your family has always had a special spot in my heart. It was with much sadness that I learned today of the passing of Mr. Rasmussen but I am comforted by the belief that he has taken the next step in the journey and is now in a better place, a place you will all see him again. Your family was so important to me in my early years through high school. I can remember so many Friday nights spent at your house and the love that permeated through the walls of that home was tangible and powerful. It is that very same love that I believe will sustain you all during this time of grieving. Please know that my mom and dad - Alyce and Paul - and I will be lifting you up in prayers in the days and weeks to come. Love and Blessings... Jennifer Cooke

Dear Sharon, children & family, We send you our love & sympathy from Lindon, Utah. Lloyd Rasmussen was a wonderful man; he was brilliant, a great business man, and a great Church leader with a deep love for his Savior, Jesus Christ, and for his wonderful family. We are the recipients of his great knowledge & caring ways so that we are enjoying retirement today. He cared deeply for other people. We will miss him. I am proud to have him as my cousin.
