I remember when I first saw Mikey his freshman year with wavy long blonde hair and a mouth full of braces my junior year and we've been friends ever since. I've been there to see him slowly transition into a man with his beard stubble on his face that seemed it came over night and can't believe he's gone. I'm really gonna miss him and all the good times we had like tye dying shirts in his backyard, there was never a dull moment with Mike.

My heart broke into pieces when my son Kyle told me of the tragic news. My son is deeply saddened by the loss of a great friend. They played Water Polo together at Edison, and hung out together as friends. I had the privilege of meeting Mike, such a fine young man, as a guest at our home and at WP games.

The service for Mike was beautiful, there was not a dry eye in the church .Mike was very well loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him- God will keep him close.

Mike, God has taking you early. Maybe earlier than expected. However, put your hands down on your Parents, Family and Friends, and tell them, I am ok, and God has given me the
watch-over to set my Family and friends to the greatest place I Celebrate in.
God Bless Mikey and thanks for a wonderful life. As we never met, soon one day, when God makes that choice for you, Family ,Friends and unknown strangers as myself meet together. Look Down, and keep us Safe.

Michael, words cannot describe how sad Becky and I were to hear the news. I find comfort in knowing that this is not a "good-bye" but more of an "I will see you later". I am so blessed that I was able to get to know you during your time down here. Your kidness, heart and smile are truly inspirational. It's pretty amazing to think about how many lives and hearts you have touched in such a short period of time. Hope all is well buddy, "I will see you later". P.S. How's the diving up there? J-

Mike, aka "bro"( because of his surfer brah persona) was an athlete of mine, a pole vaulter to be exact. Yes he was the adventurous in all sports, only the strong can catapult themselves into the air hoping to fly over a bar 12 feet in the air. My last memory of him was the high five and hug I received from him at the end of school this past year, his face had matured from his freshmen year and I was so excited to her him call out “coach” and run over to me to give me that hug. I will miss that young man, and pray for his family.

My heart goes out to Michael's family. I lost my 20 year old daughter, Courtney Stewart, to a drunk driver April 9, 2009, along with her friends, Nick Adenhart and Henry Pearson. There is nothing worse in life than losing a child. I know the pain that Michael's parents are going thru right now and am saying prayers of support for them. Michael sounded like such a wonderful young man.
From one grieving parent to another.
God bless,

I’m deeply saddened for your loss. My oldest son when to Newland,Talbert and Edison High School with Michael. He too is in shock. My wife and I just saw Michael a few weeks ago opening the door for us at Ruby’s down in Corona Del Mar. He recognized us and we had a small chat about where he was going to school etc. I can still see that wonderful smile he had at Newland’s ESP when I had to drop my son off fir school. Be strong and god bless.
