Rose Reed Obituary

Reed, Rose Ann (Kigar) 1923 - 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rose Ann Reed. Rose was born April 17, 1923 in Napoleon, Ohio and died November 24, 2010 in Anaheim Hills, California at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Warren Elliott Reed (Ret.) and leaves behind her daughter, Diane Rose Glanz (Jon), and two sons, Warren Edward Reed (Coleen) and Wayne Oliver Reed (Kathleen), 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She also leaves many friends and relatives in Ohio, as well as Virginia and California. Rose spent many years traveling the world as a military wife and mother. Ultimately, she spent her happiest years with her loving husband in the home she loved in Corona, California, where she was famous for her gardening skills. She especially loved roses and most flowers, which she grew with great skill. She was an expert gardener and could propagate almost any plant. She was a member of the Women's Club of Corona and volunteered her time with the elderly. She loved people, especially old people and loved her family above all else. After her husband's death in 2008, she moved to Anaheim Hills, to be close to family, but her heart remained in Corona. Memorial services will be Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 950 West Ontario Avenue, Corona, California. Telephone (951) 734-1920. Reception will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Presbyterian Church, 950 West Ontario Avenue, Corona, California.

I am saddened by the loss of Rose, and heartbroken that I did not know about her funeral. Rose was a wonderful lady who was always smiling and she was so much fun to talk to. She was so proud of her husband, her family, and her home. Every Sunday, she would bring chocolate chip cookies to share at church, and sometimes they would still be warm. After she moved out of her home, to be closer to her husband, we would have long phone conversations, and I would occasionally run into her around town, where we would end up visiting for awhile. I have such fond memories of Rose, and she was as beautiful as her name. She will be missed. Condolences to her family.

I am so sorry to hear the passing of Rose. I truly enjoyed her spirit and humor. We had many conversations involving her husband's illness and the illness of my father.
I missed her when she left our church and will continue to miss this beautiful lady.

Sincerely,
Terrie Burbank
