William Fifield Obituary

Fifield, William Arliss William "Bill" Arliss Fifield passed away on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at the age of 84 after a long illness. Bill was born and raised in Lake City, Iowa. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific during WWII. After the war, he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University at Ames. He and his family moved to California in 1952 where he began his career in Aerospace Engineering. In the late 1950's, Bill started AAA Masonry and later Tropicana Custom Pools in the San Fernando Valley which built swimming pools throughout Southern California. He came to Cypress in Orange County in 1976 as the owner of a Red Carpet Real Estate office and became active with the Cypress, La Palma, Buena Park Board of Realtors. He served as Board President and was active in the California Association of Realtors. In 1980, he started Embassy Park Development Co. along with his sons Thomas Fifield and Steven Fifield. Embassy Park built Condominium and Apartment projects throughout Orange and Los Angeles Counties. After retiring, Bill was active with Seacoast Grace Church. He did volunteer work for the Boys and Girls Club, Cypress Senior Center, Meals on Wheels and the Cypress Police Department. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Thelma Fifield, Uncle Keith Hanks, and his son, James Richard Fifield. He is survived by his sister, Helen Bockhorst; mother of his children, Dorothy Spindler Fifield; daughter, Diane Fifield Bilyeu, sons Steven, Thomas, David and Robert Fifield; by his grandchildren Mathew Bilyeu, Jamie, Ryan and Kellie Fifield, Kevin and Scott Fifield, Derrick Fifield and Gavin Fifield, as well as two great-granddaughters and 3 great-grandsons. Memorial Services will be held at Seacoast Grace Church, 5100 Cerritos Ave, Cypress, CA on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at 11:00am. Internment will be in Lake City, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Speech and Language Development Center, in Buena Park, CA, or the Seacoast Grace Church Building Fund in Cypress, CA.

A wonderful man, Bill, who gave of his time in so many ways and never hesitated to reach out to his fellow man. His children are so fortunate to have been loved by this man of great character and charm and who will be dearly missed by so many people who have had the pleasure to have crossed his path.
