Pannill Brooking
Herbert Pannill Brooking, 90, of Locust Grove, departed this life into the arms of his saviour on Tuesday, January 5, 2010.
Pannill was born August 9, 1919, to Herbert Pannill Brooking and Florence T. Brooking in Locust Grove, Virginia.
Pannill was a retired master carpenter. He enjoyed engaging in politics as well as gardening. He referred to himself as the oldest person living in the neighborhood. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church. Pannill fully enjoyed conversations and he never met a stranger that did not become a friend.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Catherine A. Brooking; his five children, Charles Blakley, Ronnie Brooking, Bert Brooking of Locust Grove, Paula Fields and her husband, Frank of Mineral, and Pam Wentz and her late husband, Bryan of Orange. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brenda, Linda, Keith, David, Tina, Angela, April, Sheryl, Casey, Brandy, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Brooking.
A Celebration of Life Service was held at Zoar Baptist Church in Locust Grove, 3 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010. The Reverend Tim Kirby officiated. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
