Elizabeth Gassner Obituary

Gassner, Elizabeth 70 June 10, 1945 June 15, 2015 Elizabeth "Betty" Gassner of West Linn, passed away peacefully June 15, 2015, at the age of 70, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Betty was born June 10, 1945, in Bremerton, Wash., to Ronald and Mae Dufort. She grew up in Portland, attended Cleveland High School, the University of Washington and Portland State University, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business. She met her husband, Richard "Dick" Gassner, on a blind date during her senior year of high school. They married while finishing college, honeymooned in Zurich, Switzerland, and traveled throughout Europe. Betty worked in the legal department at U.S. Bank, for Oregon Senator John Burns, as a legal secretary for Milt Stewart and subsequently for Davis Wright Tremaine for approximately 30 years. Betty was an excellent cook, was stylish and loved shopping. All who knew her loved her for her generosity, thoughtfulness, honesty, integrity and love of animals. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dick; sons, Tim and Peter; daughters-in-law, Alexa and Meghan; and grandchildren, Cole, Jake and Carter. Her granddaughter, Eliza Mae, due in September, will be named in her honor. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret "Peggy." An informal celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at her home. The family suggests any contributions be made in Betty's name to cancer research, Best Friends Animal Society or the charity of your choice.

Beautiful Betty will be so missed by me and all who have been so lucky to have known her. I will always remember her voice when she would call in for you and the amazing over the moon desserts she made. Much love Shelly

Betty was a wonderful, lovely lady. I am so glad I got to know her during our time at Lake Oswego Jazzercise. I loved seeing her with her husband and dogs when I used to walk with the early morning hill group. May she rest in peace. She and family will be in my prayers.
