ALICE DAVIS Obituary

DAVIS, ALICE J., (Nita) a resident of the Orlando Lutheran Towers died on May 3, 2011. She was 91 years old. Alice was born in Allentown, MO, the daughter of Joseph C. Frey and Alice Delanie Frey on April 1, 1920. She went through normal schooling for a young girl in the 20's and 30's and was in the secretarial field when she met James Davis, an officer and pilot in the United States Air Force, who became her husband-to-be a mere three months and 18 days later. During their Air Force tour they traveled extensively and lived in Harlingen, Texas; McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey; Arlington, Virginia; Columbus, Ohio; Embassy housing in Argentina, which was their most enjoyable assignment, and Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. Along the way they made several friends, many of whom were close to Alice for the rest of her life. She was loved by all that met her for her caring and accepting nature, intelligence and playful sense of humor. Jim retired from the Air Force in 1973 and told Alice he was moving her down to the "pretty little town" of Orlando he had visited in recent travels. They shared a lovely home located on the golf course in Rio Pinar Estates where Alice was an avid bridge player and spent time almost every day tending to her beautiful flower gardens and lawn, admired by all in the neighborhood. After Alice and Jim had enjoyed 52 wonderful years of marriage, he passed away in July of 1999. Not long after, Alice moved to the Orlando Lutheran Towers in 2003 where she continued to make new friends and was well-known for her beautiful white hair and high-spirited giggle. Alice is survived by family in Tennessee and nieces and nephews living in the local area. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at the Orlando Lutheran Towers on Saturday, 21 May at 10 am. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Orlando Lutheran Towers Foundation, 300 E Church Street, Orlando FL 32801. To the family of Nita, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I met Nita in 2002 when Paul Brown her nephew and I visited that summer. She stole my heart.
