Ann Croft Obituary

Croft, Ann Moore died September 13, 2016, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Ann was born on February 9, 1935 in Wewoka, OK to parents, Thomas Robert and Annlet Wolfe Moore. It was there that Ann's love for music was nurtured. She became a talented musician at an early age and was an All State flutist in high school. Ann played classical piano throughout her life. When Ann was in high school she vacationed in St. Simons, GA and that it where she met her husband, Carl Croft. They would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary this December. Ann graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Architecture and Design. She then accompanied Carl through his training at Duke Medical School and the University of Florida. Ann and Carl moved with their children to Winter Park in 1968. There she led a full life as a wife, mother, business owner, and active volunteer in her church and many civic organizations. Ann owned her own interior design firm, and her work can be seen in many homes and businesses in Central Florida. Ann loved opera, and she severed as the president of the Orlando Opera Company and on the board of the International Opera Society. It was not uncommon for her to host internationally acclaimed singers in her home. Ann was on the Florida Symphony Board and was an active member of the Orlando-Winter Park Junior League. She was a member of the Orange County Medical Society Auxiliary and a team leader in funding the first CT scan for Winter Park Memorial Hospital. Ann was happiest when she was doing something for others. She sang in the choirs at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park and The Church of the Good Shepherd in Cashiers, NC. She devoted herself to numerous ministries at both churches, and was a Stephen Minister and a member of the Daughters of the King. She supported El Hogar School for children in Honduras, and took great joy in a mission trip that she made there. Ann was a Bible scholar and taught a weekly bible study for many years. She appreciated and studied art throughout her life, and was active in the Council of 101, which funds projects for the Orlando Museum of Art. She also supported the Cornell Museum of Fine Arts at Rollins College. The final three years of her life she volunteered on a Thursday afternoons at the Winter Park Public Library. One of her greatest joys was world travel with her husband and with a group of five couples from Winter Park. She was fascinated with different cultures, history, art and antiques. Ann enjoyed the outdoors and competition of a good golf game. She was a member of Interlachen Country Club and Burlingame Country Club in North Carolina. She played her final round of golf five weeks ago at Burlingame. Ann is preceded in death by her parents and her younger sisters, Dale Leticia Bradley and Susan Meredith Moore. As busy as Ann was she was never too buy for her family, which she always put first, including her husband Dr. Carl Croft. She is survived by her three children, Elizabeth Ann (Skip) Jewett, Orlando; Carol Lynn (Jack) Reeves, Richmond, VA; Thomas Robert (Carla Alston) Croft, Plano, TX. Her delight was her seven grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Jewett O'Neil, Callie Ann Jewett, John Henry Reeves IV, Savannah LaRue Reeves, Thomas Robert Croft, Jr., Christian Carl Croft, Michael Alston Croft, and one great grandson, Grayson Wells O'Neil. When each grandchild became teenager she would take each on an exotic or romantic adventure, which included, among others, white water rafting in Turkey and a safari in Botswana, Africa. Ann has two nieces, Dr. Ann Bradley Lally and Jennifer Bradley and one nephew, Christian McHam. Her sister-in-law in Ruth Croft Kent. A Celebration of Ann's life will be held at All Saints Church in Winter Park on Friday, September 16th at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Church. Carl,

Ann was truly the light of Jesus in all she said and did!! After 57 years of friendship she still amazed me by all the things she did for others but rarely talked about! She was truly a Renaissance lady!! But most of all,she was one of my dearest friends and I will MISS her!!Thanks for this lovely obituary. I'll miss being there Friday to celebrate her life with you. But I'll be there in spirit and through prayer.

Love you all, Shirley

Carl, I'm so saddened to read of your loss of your incredible wife. She sounds so accomplished in so many ways it's humbling. I'm sorry that we never met; it would have been an education!
Please accept my sincerest condolences for you and your family.
