Becky, Ron and Mike,
I read about your Dad's death in the 12/29 edition of the Chronicle - regrettably not in time to attend his services and meet you all and your families. I met your Dad on 6/15/65 as a brand new employee out of Clemson, recruited by Ben McCloud. As Employee Relations Manager for the Southeast Region in Charlotte, he and his department (incl. John Belk, Marjorie Gray) made all we new hires feel at home and provided a very well designed orientation and training program. My experience with your Dad and his department extended to my first "real' job as Region Automation Engineer ('66) and later, after a stint Houston, as Asst.Terminal Superintendent ('72) in Charleston and Field Sales Manager ('74) in Raleigh before heading North to Exxon Enterprises, Inc ('77) in New Jersey. Each transition was made easier by your Dad and his very professional department. I remember him as a caring, kind and humble man. In my memory, he joins the likes of Gary Johns and Frank Smith - who both predeceased him - as the "complete manager". I'm certain you, his grand and great grandchildren will continue to count your blessings and your memories as his privileged descendants.

We've been neighbors of Thornton and Doe Doe in Bay Hill since 1987. He loved his golf, playing earliest in the morning for many years. We always enjoyed his warm greeting when he saw us. He is missed by many.

To the Larimer family:
Reading the Chronicle OB's today from High Point, NC, I see that an old and dear friend has passed away.
Thornton and I worked for Humble/Exxon. I got Thornton to join the Fire Prevention group in our Jaycee days.
I was going over a "slide show" that I made of my days at Humble. One of the first photos in the slide show, was Thornton and my wife, Dannette, at a Humble employee picnic back in 1949.
I am sorry for your loss, and hope that you and your family will find and hold a memory of your father, who was a great and generous man.
Dan Harrington
