NANCY TIMMERMAN Obituary

TIMMERMAN, NANCY Timmerman, Nancy of Lakeland and Winter Park, FL died peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Nancy was born and lived most of her life in Grand Rapids, MI. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Muriel (Diepenhorst) Timmerman. Nancy graduated from Rockford High School and Michigan State University. She was the Strategic Procurement Manager at Saddle Creek Corporation in Lakeland, FL. She also worked for Marriott, the Smithsonian Institution, Meijer, Gantos, the Job Corps, and Howard Johnson's. Nancy enjoyed nothing more than serving lavish meals and wonderful wine to friends and family, whom she loved having gathered to celebrate any and every occasion. She believed in the power of dance to transform young lives, though she herself did not become a dancer until she was an adult. She was surprised and delighted that the young people with whom she danced inspired her in so many ways. Nancy inspired them, as she did all who knew and loved her, by living life to the fullest, taking to heart these words by Ernest Hemingway: "Be fully in the moment, open yourself to the powerful energies dancing around you." Nancy is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Thomas Masselink of Winter Park, FL; nephew Andrew (Tim) Timmerman Masselink and his wife Angelina; most darling great-niece, Taylor Masselink; stepmother Marie Timmerman; stepsister Lynn Gillotte, and stepbrother David Kuitert. An announcement will be made at a later date regarding a celebration of Nancy's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Nancy's name to the Orlando Ballet Scholarship Fund, 415 East Princeton Avenue, Orlando, FL 32803.

Like so many people, I absolutely adored Nancy. As the "big sister" of my best friend since grade school, she was such a role model to me. She was incredibly positive, great fun to be around, completely devoted to her family -- the most adoring aunt and great aunt I have ever met. She always looked great, with hair coiffed and nails painted a vivid red (to match her trademark red lipstick). She loved her life. Her idea of a good time was cooking with her sister and (and great niece) and inviting lots of people over and serving them delicious food and wine. I will always see her in my mind wearing a white cook's apron and holding a glass of red wine, smiling. I was honored to know her and will miss her incredibly. Heaven just gained a really magnetic person.
With love to the family,

Sue and Family, I was shocked and saddened to hear of your sister Nancy's passing. I remember her as always making people around her laugh as a child. Sounds like she was so loved and I can she why. I took inspiration from her philosophy of life. I hope I can begin to live that way.
Sincerely,
Lorna Proctor Schmiedicke
