John Ducker Obituary

Ducker, John Passed away April 15, 2014. Born in Fort Thomas, KY on September 3, 1922, John had deep roots in florida, his family having owned property in Fort Myers from the 1920's through the 1930's. John earned his bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1944, served in the U.S. Army, and earned his law degree from Yale in 1951. He established hi law practice in Orlando and became involved with Republican politics. In 1960 he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, becoming the first Orange County Republican to so so. He served in the House until 1968, when he was elected to the Florida Senate, serving until 1971. Among his legislative accomplishments was the successful sponsorship of the legislation establishing the University of Central Florida. John was an avid traveller, having visited every continent, including Antarctica. He also travelled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. He is survived by his nephews, Stuart, Robert, and Thomas. In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to the Brede-Wilkins Scholarship fund at Village on the Green, Longwood, FL. A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection on May 7, 2014, at 2:00PM.

Seeing him at church almost every Sunday. He was there the Sunday before he passed, looking very good I might add. A fellow parishioner of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection
