BRUNETTE, Almozor Albert (Bert)
Passed away peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the age of 90 years. He is predeceased by Rhoda, his beloved wife of 38 years. Cherished father of John (Judy), Ron (Elaine), Owen (deceased), Jeff (Susan), Stephen (Semra) and Laurie (Jim). Much loved grandfather of Robin, Corrine (deceased), Ben, Mike, Mary, Krista, Grace, Dana and Kevin. Great-grandfather of Kaiden and Tristan. Also predeceased by his siblings Philip (Agnes), Henry (Claire), Alec (Mona), Pauline and Germaine (Jerry). Bert was born in Apple Hill, ON and was raised in Ottawa, ON. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the Canadian Army and served in WWII in the Sicily and Italian Campaigns attached to the 5th Calgary tanks. After returning to Ottawa he met the love of his life, Rhoda Doherty. Establishing a career as an HVAC oil service technician, Bert worked for Shell Canada from 1967 through his retirement in 1996, known to many customers in Ottawa's west end. Bert raised his family in the Nepean Borden Farm area and eventually retired to the Perley Rideau Veterans Home. He will be fondly remembered as a devoted servant of the Catholic faith and by his love of his trips to Ogunquit beach on the coast of southern Maine. Family and friends may pay their respects at the

on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Basilica (281 Napean Street) on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Spring.
