Sincere sympathy to the Montgomerys--Jim, Justine, Thomas and family--from the Wallace Dances. Catherine was a caring presence at Bytown Co-op nursery school, then at St. Margaret Mary Elementary School. She was also a wonderful boss to me when I worked for her on contracts during her time at the AECB. I will miss seeing Catherine biking on the canal paths going to and from work.
Our deepest condolences,
Theresa Wallace, John Dance, Ross, Anne and Mark Dance

I have worked with Catherine at the Canada Council for the past decade and have always appreciated her deep knowledge and passion for literature, and her commitment to the writing and publishing community in Canada. More than that, however, I have loved her generous and bright spirit, her inquisitiveness, her fair-mindedness and her genuine enthusiasm and excitement for good ideas. Catherine was both gracious and charming at all times, and a pleasure to work with. I will really miss her. To her family and friends, I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish you comfort at this difficult time, and my sincerest condolences.

Catherine was an exceptionally kind, thoughtful, caring person. Working with her on both sides of the Canada Council divide, I found her to be always the consummate professional: helpful and conscientious, scrupulously fair-minded, deeply and energetically committed to serving Canada's community of writers, publishers and readers. May Catherine's loved ones find peace amid their sorrow by remembering her as she was in life.
