I am so very sorry to hear of your family's loss.
Don's participation at the monthly ceilis in dances like the Haymaker's Jig was ever welcome, his enthusiasm and appreciation for the dance easy to see.

I was sorry to hear of Don's passing. I danced with Don with the Ardbrae Scottish country dancers many years ago and when I returned to contra dancing recently it was a pleasure to see Don again. He chuckled that he had had a hip replacement but that didn't stop him from knowing where he needed to be on the dance floor or enjoying the music. My sympathies to Don's family.

Ian, Mary Pat and Georgia,
We loved having Don and Ian to stay when he was in NZ to say farewell to his sister Joan. He always had a sparkle and was a real pleasure to have in our noisy busy household of teens. He wickedly introduced me to peanut butter chocolate (new to NZ at that time) that we secretly shared away form the kids - more for us!!

Dave and I are so sorry to hear of Don's death. We first met him when we started Scottish Dancing in 1971. He was always so friendly and welcoming to newcomers, especially if they were young and attractive. As the years went on, he was a good partner in class because he always knew exactly where one should be at any point.
When we flew First Air to Jamaica many years ago, Don popped out of the cockpit shortly after takeoff, to our grwat surprise and his great pleasure. He took each of up to see the flight deck and meet the crew.
We are in South Carolina and so cannot be at the service, but our thoughts are with you all. I shall keep him in my prayers.

Dear Ian and Families, my sincere condolences to everyone.
As a Scottish Country Dancer with the Brockville and Kingston Groups for many years, I have had the pleasure of many a dance with Don. I have also been entertained by his piping.
Since moving to Picton 10 yrs. ago, I had lost touch with his whereabouts. Just a month ago, I was visiting my parents there, when I passed his driveway on my return journey and wondered if he was still with us, as no one had told me differently.
He was a very wiry, able, caring, although somewhat stubborn person and will be missed by all.
In time, I hope that these sorts of memories will help to carry you through your sorrow into a brighter, happier time.
Sincerely,
Lynn Burrow

Dear Ian, Robert and Family,
My husband, Roger and I are sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. We enjoyed dancing with Don since 1995 with the Ardbrae Scottish Country Dancers of Ottawa. He was always cheerful and gracious. He knew the jigs, reels, and strathspeys very well and thus he was a great dancing partner as he was a good leader, even in his latter days as he was slowing down.
I also knew of Don through my association with First Air/Bradley Air Services back in the early 1980s as a flight attendant/air medivac attendant. Don always kept me up to date with the news of the North and First Air at Ardbrae dancing events with his conversation and provision of the occasional magazine about Nunavut tourism and the airline business. Don will be sadly missed. Our sincere sympathy in your loss.

Dear Ian & Family,
The loss of a father and even a friend is never an easy one. During this very difficult time, may it bring peace to you knowing that those you and your father have touched are thinking of you. From our family to yours…
Look to the stars and you will find someone you have lost but will love forever. As you have been so supportive with our family during the loss of our loved ones you know that in our family the belief is that once you pass you are given a star that you throw as hard as you can and it becomes a gift to those who you have loved and for now, leave behind.
A star filled night will never pass without you thanking your dad for all those special moments shared with you and your friends and family. You are all in our thoughts. Joe & Dorothy, Giverny and Kirk. (Church-Charlebois)
