MARTIN, Robert Ervin Of Orleans, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, following a valiant battle against cancer. Born on January 11, 1933 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late James and Muriel (Langille) Martin. Bob served in the Military and for Judge Advocate General for a total of 46 years of loyal service, as well as H & R Block for 25 years. His passions were photography, volksmarching, and above all, his faith in God. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Kathi (Kate) Irvine, his wife of 26 years, and loving father of: Cheryl Levy (Wayne), Belleville, ON; Dianne Tremblay (Eric), Gatineau, PQ; Joy Hoskin (Shannon), Bridgewater, NS; Robert Martin (Margaret), Hatchet Lake, NS; Pamela Martin, Petit Rocher, NB; Patrick Martin, Bathurst, NB; and Jason Schrader (Kathryn), Vanier, ON. Greatly missed by 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; loving sisters: Blanche Hoare (John), Port Perry, ON and Lillian Saltzman, Bridgewater, NS, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings: Jennie Caldwell Harwood, Dorothy Cooke, Ruth Lyons, James Martin, Hibbert Martin, Charles Martin, and Muriel Martin. Visitation will be held at Kelly Funeral Home, 2370 St. Joseph Blvd. (Orleans) Friday, January 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Farewell Celebration of Life will be held at Redeemer Alliance Church, 4825 Innes Road, Orleans on Saturday, January 8, at 2 p.m. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Redeemer Alliance Church. Sincere thanks to his many caregivers, especially to Dr. Carolyn Faught and Dr. Rajiv Samant (OGH); the Ottawa General Hospital 5NE Unit; and finally, Dr. Louise Coulombe, CCAC, and At Home Hospice. Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered.
