David DUFFY Obituary
It is with profound sadness that David and Thomas tragically passed away together on February 22nd, 2012, at the age of 47 and 16, respectively. David was the beloved husband of Louise (nee Ritchie), and the dear father of Victoria and Eric. He was the son of Bill and Solange, the brother of Martin (Marnie) and Sylvia (Sean) and an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Thomas was the cherished son of Louise, and the dear brother of Victoria and Eric. Special grandson of Bill and Solange Duffy and Helene Ritchie (the late Al), and nephew of Diane (Philip), Claire (Robert), Sylvie (Paul), Daniel (Katerina), Claude (Monika), Sylvia (Sean) and Martin (Marnie). Both will be dearly missed by their many cousins, family, and countless friends. Family and friends are invited to pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 1255 Walkley Rd (east of Bank) on Monday, February 27th from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday February 28th from 12 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association would be greatly appreciated. I am late coming and just recently learned of his loss. We miss him so much!!!
I was 13 when I met David, and my sister and I knew him for many years.
We have so many memories of him from when he was 20 onward.
I would love to share my memories with his children so they know just how incredible he was.
We knew him for many years.
He was an incredible person; kind, caring and loving. The world will miss him greatly because he dared to live greatly! Such a loss!!

David was the best boss I ever had. I worked with him for 3 years at Cyrville Community centre. He always motivated and inspired staff to do a good job and have fun. I felt that David looked out for us and made us all feel that we made a unique contribution in the workplace. He also had a great sense of humour and was lots of fun to work with. I felt that he really cared about the staff, kids and he loved his job. I'm so sad that he's gone.

David was a great boss, a great person, and an amazing friend. I will truly miss him a lot. The office isn't the same without him. The 5 years I worked with David were great. I couldn't ask for a better supervisor. He helped me become a better counsellor, a better coordinator, a better director, and in the end, a better person. He will truly be missed by all the staff at South Fallingbrook.
I never had the pleasure to meet Thomas, but from what David told me, he was a great person, and an excellent skier (just like his father).

We would like to pass along our deepest sympathies for the loss of David and Thomas. We met Dave through the Fallingbrook Community Centre, and would talk to him often. He was such a kind and gentle person. Our children enjoyed Dave's presence, and you could tell how much he enjoyed being surrounded by all the kids. We can remember one particular time when Dave was doing a quiz show over the radios with the counsellors, and it struck us both at the fun they were all having. We feel truly blessed to have known David.
We never had the pleasure of meeting Thomas, but in the past week we've seen the impact he's left on his school and ski community. There are no words we can express to console you on your loss, but please know that we are keeping them both in our hearts, and are sending you our prayers.

It is such a heartbreaking loss for all who were touched by David's radiant personality and positive outlook towards life. To the Duffy family, Louise, Victoria and Eric, our hearts and prayers are with you during this tragic and unbelievably sad period. Dear Duffy Family,
Although I didn`t personally know David or Thomas, we share mutual friends, passion for the sport of freestyle skiing and a love of life. There are no words to describe your monumental loss other than to say your tragedy and sadness are deeply felt by many including my family, the freestyle skiing fraternity and the entire Ottawa community.

I had the pleasure of working with David for several years. I remember his big smile, his big laugh, and how he showed so much dedication to his family and his work. I saw him as a genuine 'people-person' who had much respect for colleagues and community. My deepest sympathies to Louise, Eric, Victoria and both families. I had the pleasure of working with David for the past 6 years at SFCC. I am very thankful to have had him as my supervisor and also as my mentor. He was so dedicated to his kids and also to his staff and patrons at the Centre. I will miss him dearly everyday at work.
