I am so sorry to hear of Dons passing. I first met him after an archeological field trip (University of Wisconsin) in Kodiak and on Umnak Island. After this trip he came to UW as a graduate student in Archeology, and we knew each other well. I always admired his work in the field, but mostly I enjoyed his easy-going nature, his sly sense of humor and his kindness. Im sure that all who know him will miss him greatly. My deepest sympathy to his family and other loved ones.

I am very so very sorry, especially as I was unable to keep in touch. I too am a Woodford, and we had met in Ottawa. A lovely man who did important work. Should Gerald read this I would so appreciate it if he could contact me. Judy Jackson [email protected]

My thoughts go out to his family. He was a considerate man, a friendly colleague who never hesitated to share information or pause to chat at a conference. His contributions to northern science are considerable. His legacy will live on through his numerous contributions to the anthropology and archaeology of the north.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I keep fond memories of our many years at the Archaeological Survey of Canada. Don was a respected scholar and a sweet man with a delightful sense of humor.

Very sad to hear of Don's passing. We shared fieldwirk togerher in his capacity as Yukon Archaeologist at the Archaeological Survey of Canada and for Arctic and Subarctic archaeology. He was a well respected core componenent of the Wisconsin Arctic program which has such a huge impact on northern archaeology. He made important contributions to Yukon archaeology with fieldwork at Fort Reliance, Engigstciak, Frenchman Lake and I wll remember our time opening up the Canyon site for the 1987 INQUA Yukon fieldtrip. It was good though that in retirement he was able to return to Kodiak Island where it all started for him. I'm sure that Allen, Dick, Roger Din and others are sitting around a campfire with some appropriare refreshments reviewing the latest developments north of 60 degrees. We miss him and heartfelt condolences to his family.

We are going to miss Don up in Alaska where many of us worked with him on archaeological projects in Kodiak and the Aleutian Islands. He was great fun to work with and an inspiration to all of us.

Very sad to hear about Don's passing. I knew him for many years, even if not particularly well - I always thought he was a productive scholar and a very nice man, and always amusing to chat to at a conference.

Very sorry to hear about this. I ran into Don a few times when I was working as a historian in Alaska in the '70s and '80s.

We were sorry to hear of Donald Clark's passing. He was a good neighbour for so many years. He had such an interesting and worthwhile career. I remember having good conversations with him about the Soviet Union, which he had visited for work. I was lucky enough to have a trip there many years ago too. Like us, he was very dedicated to his cats. Lorri, Brenda and Alison Griffith
