Kenneth Kilrea Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 22 to Jan. 23, 2008.
KILREA, Kenneth Hector After a long and courageous battle, the family announces with sorrow Ken's death at St. Vincent's Hospital, January 19, 2008 at the age of 67. Son of the late Kenneth Kilrea and Frances (Loates). Loving husband and soulmate of Jeanette. Cherished father of Jason. Dear brother of Judy (Cameron). Hec leaves behind his buddy Bert, his good friend Teddy, loved in-laws Louise and James Scott, Harvey and Pam Woodrow, Michele Woodrow, Craig Woodrow, nieces Alexandra, Sherry, Tara, Crystal, Tiffany, nephews Daniel and Brad. Fondly remembered by his companion "Ben" and his many friends, relatives and loved ones. Hec lived life to the fullest and he was happiest smoking a cigar and riding around in his prized 1987 "Caddie". He was master of the New York Times Crossword and Jeopardy. Ken was an avid music fan and king of trivia. Hec's message to all - be sure to have a colonoscopy. It could save your life. The family wishes to thank all those who visited Hec and for your love and support. Organ donation made to the University of Ottawa, and cremation with no visitation. In memoriam, donations to the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club would be appreciated. Condolences at www.kellyfh.ca

sorry about your loss. I knew his mother and father and Judy well, many years ago I rented a room in their home on Florence and was treated in a wonderful way. Judy would probably remember me well,,Brenda Johnson (Pattison)

My cousin Norm Said told me that Hec was living on borrowed time. It would have been great to say goodbye one last time in person. I first met him in the 1940's, when we all lived on Gladstone & Kent St. A truly gifted athlete in all sports.
My sympathies to his wife & son.

I was very sorry to hear of "Hectors'" struggle throughout his illness.
He was definitely a character, with sports skills that are legend amongst his team mates and opponents alike, and had that dry humour and laugh that was his.
Our condolences to his grieving family.

I will have fond memories of enjoying a good cigar with Hec at the 'The Sports Club' over a 'couple' of beers, while swapping lines from the Bogart classic Casablanca.

"Here's looking at you kid."

I met Kenneth (Hec) at the Ottawa Courthouse. He introduced me to the Ottawa Nepean Canadians Sports Club. Hec was a pleasure to know and his love of the "oldies" was legendary.
A true gentleman, it is an honor to list him as a great friend.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Hec's family at this time.

At this time of loss we can console ourselves by remembering that Hec and “Uncle Kenny” will be reunited.
Let the trivia contests begin.....

It is with much sadness that I read about the passing of my old friend Hec. Hec and I grew up together on Gladstone Avenue in the 40's and 50's. We spent many an evening at the Ottawa Boys' Club on Laurier Avenue. He will be missed by all who knew him.
